Yesterday's Ghost

Yesterday's ghost
rose out of the fog
of unrequited desires,
accompanied by
the wicked echoes of ego.

The test was to let go
of yesterday's failures,
to forgive yourself,
and accept the lessons learned.

The past is a worn out pair of shoes,
ready to be replaced
by new hopes,
joys,
achievements,
and desires.

Do not let the fears
of ego's evil whisperer
delude you
into thinking
that the road ahead is flat
and unmarked by more test and difficulties.

Entreat
the assistance of the Lord
to keep moving forward.
