Tanaga: "Wintry Evening"

Twinkling lights with sunny glow,
tingling skin in joy we know,
darkest night as myst'ry grows,
rest enjoyed in peace that shows.

Coffee, tea, the choice of cups
joins our food to help us sup.
Writing silent thoughts all up.
Creativity's my cup.

Is stealing moments just greed?
Or need I to rest and read?
Is nothing done, good as deed?
Peace is found when tension's freed.

Cold the bite, that helps us meet
friend with friend in warm retreat.
Heated cup and filled by meat
close by fire in quilt replete.

Words are good, but silence great
friendship's hope is on the plate.
Sitting while the minutes skate.
Quiet's never out of date.

Wintry ev'ning warms the cold
as the peace from times of old.
Moments made of lasting gold
are words said by tongue untold.

Frozen times as hearts renew
make us joyful when we're through.
Hold the warmth of winter, too
in the deepest part of you.
