New year Thoughts
New Year Thoughts

Ringing in the New Year
commences with Christmas dear.
It fills me with newfound hope,
leaves no room to moan or mope.

Color pink, among others, plays
on mind, signals the end of tough days.
An abundance of beauty and joy
wait for me in the sea of life ahoy.

New Year! Are you telling me
life is not life if lived only for thee?
A few hours a week I decide to teach
the slum kids, a goal not beyond reach.

Morning walk takes me to the green woods,
my path paved with precious plants of good.
Holy Basil, sacred fig or Ficus religiosa
challenge me to study them as also planta venenosa.

New Year pulled out the seeker in me that would
endeavor to understand bad and appreciate good.
