Story Versus Scene Outlines
Story Versus
Scene Outlines

I’m far from an expert when it comes to scriptwriting. In fact, I have never had any formal training. All that I have learned is from books and the internet. Mostly from the internet since it has the up to date information. True, the basic formatting hasn’t changed. But the Outlines and the Treatments have. Both are still the same in how they are written. It’s their titles that aren’t the same anymore.

Why am I writing about Outlines and Treatments? It’s because I’m not an expert at scriptwriting. I always thought that Treatments still existed. But it looks like I was wrong about that. I’m also a member of several scriptwriting web sites that I have joined. And recently I got an email from one of them that told me that I’m wrong about Treatments.

What I always thought of as Outlines and Treatments are now called Story Outlines and Scene Outlines. That is how I’m going to refer to them in my projects and in my blogs like this one from now one. That isn’t a problem with my Water Wars scriptwriting project since it’s handwritten, and I haven’t transferred my handwriting to my laptop on it yet. But I will need to adjust it a little bit with my second scriptwriting project, The Problems with Death.

Speaking of my Water Wars scriptwriting project, I’m not trying to avoid what I did on it yesterday. I just felt that I needed the above to be addressed first. As for what I did yesterday at work, it wasn’t quite as good as I wanted it to be. But it wasn’t all that bad either. I got twelve single paragraphs written at work yesterday. True, I was hoping to get a few more written. but twelve isn’t too bad.

Especially, consider the reasons why I didn’t get more written. one of those reasons is work. It was very, very busy at work yesterday. Not quite as busy as it has been for a Friday lately. But it was a close second. The weather was also a reason. It wasn’t supposed to rain or storm yesterday. Yet it did. And I didn’t bring my raincoat with me because I didn’t think it was going to do either one of them.

Work and the weather wasn’t the main reason why I didn’t get more written yesterday at work, though. It was because of me. I’m the main reason why I didn’t get more written. I don’t know why. But I had a lack of concentration yesterday when it comes to my writing. Usually, it because I didn’t get enough sleep the night before. But that isn’t what happened this time.

Another reason is that I’m mad about something. True, I’m still a little bit mad about Thursday. But I’m not that mad. So, I don’t know why I only got twelve single paragraphs written. It may be one of those times that I will never know why something has happened. Then again, maybe I will. You never know when it comes to me.

Today, I’m going to continue working on the third episode of my Story Outline. I’m not very sure how much of it I’m going to be getting done. But I’m hoping it will about fifteen to twenty or more. And since it’s a Saturday, I have a very good chance of doing that many.
