ordinary things

I look at my lap in surprise,
up from it stares golden eyes.
My hand strokes the orange fur,
when I started I am not sure.
I glance at the tv screen,
but King the cat is all I've seen.
I try to follow the show's plot,
but all I know is the love that he sought.
I think watching tv is what I'd prefer,
but then I hear his roaring purr.
My fingers stroke and wiggle.
I swear I can hear him giggle,
"Give up mom, I caught your heart."
I pat his butt and say, "Don't start."

Write about an everyday moment.

Take a few moments to reflect on a small event that happens.
Something you might usually overlook, for example:
- being greeted by your pet
- a wave from a stranger
- seeing the birds hopping around the sidewalk
- etc., etc.

Pay attention to the routine things happening around you,
then reflect on its beauty or the joy it brings you.
