I have always written something it seems and I have often wondered if there were anything
I have often heard it said that writers are shy and have self confidence issues. I don't believe this to be exactly true. Although it may appear that way, we writers know that writing in and of itself is a very personal persuit. We give so much of ourselves to the words we put on paper or on our word processors. It is hard to share your heart under the best of circumstances. When we release our work we are sharing our hearts with strangers. It is like giving up a child that you poured everything you had into.

I have always written something it seems and I have often wondered if there were anything I could contribute with my writing. A couple of years ago I was forced to retire. I filled most of my days with volunteer work and charity persuits, writing only at night. But the more I wrote the more I thought there was something calling me to pursue this field. One day my work in the community lead me to see a need for an information avenue within the community and I founded a monthly newsaper that is free to the public, supported by advertisement. It grew like a fire in a dry forest during a draught.

I became seriously ill 9 months after founding this paper and had to train a staff of three to replace me. I am now essentially housebound. While I greive for my other pursuits and my freedom it has had the advantage of allowing me to explore my options in writing. I recently started an article/business content sales site and had plans of beginning another venture that I was sure would offer me an income to better my style of living.

As ussual things began to go wrong just as I was launching this new venture. But I have not given up yet. I am determined to make it work. One of the bad things that happened involved my computer. My telephone service box was struck by lightning and everything, including the box, that was connected to it had to be replaced. With the loss of my computer went the loss of the two books that I had all but completed and the book that I was ready to submit for publication. Thank God I had not yet cashed the advance check I recieved because I have not made the deadline on that book.

A word to the wise. If you use a computer to write, email your work to yourself on a daily basis. I now have a special email account that is devoted solely to my chapters.
