Thoughts, rants, anything not super creative or involving a lot of thought.
I am struggling so bad with writer's block. I have all these snippets of ideas that are aching to be written, but I can't seem to get enough of a grasp of the whole idea to really write anything down. I want to write a short story to begin with to sort of get the juices flowing, but I don't know what to write. My husband and I have begun developing an idea for a full novel, maybe even a trilogy. Alas, an idea is not enough. So I'm turning to a blog, a journal, the thing I swore I would never do again after my last poor experience in such a realm. Maybe in this locale, it won't be as risky? Who knows? I don't guess it really matters all that much anyway.

So back to the writer's block issue. I've considered beginning with something autobiographical to get things going for me. To write at all is to succeed on some level, right? The thing is, I'm not sure my life is so interesting. Yes, I have a few stories, but I don't know that they're worth writing about. I've also considered beginning work on the novel by simply fleshing out the characters and plots. Like, write everything about my main character: history, appearance, personality, dreams, weaknesses, strengths, social status, relationships, etc. If I flesh out the main character, it might give the edge I need to develop a world for him. Or I could flesh out the setting: the kingdoms, the conflict, the weather, the terrain, the lifestyle, etc. Or I could outline a basic linear plot: history, beginning, climax, ending, conflicts, etc.

My problem is that I have so many "coulds" that I'm not even doing. I need to be doing instead of could-ing. I'm just not sure where to start. Everything seems so vain and frivolous. I need a push, and I don't know where to find it.
