I hope you work something out with your wife when facing the “empty nest syndrome" but it sounds like you have a well-established bond with your son. That’s a great accomplishment. I am sure you take the opportunity to stay as close as you can to him when he is facing adulthood.

Sorry I havent been around in a month (now I'm expired and have to renew again akk) I just read back quickly through your posts and ... sigh. You are facing a lot of challenges in your life and I'm not sure I have any great wisdom as my life is pretty much insane as well ( nooo time to blog at all!!)

But know that a fellow insane lifer over here in rainy (and cold) vancouver island is a least a fellow sordid spirit of sorts and sending you some west coast thoughts - for what they're worth.

It's hard not to worry when your parents are so far away. One of the reasons I moved back closer to home a few years ago. I hope that you connect soon. Is there a neighbour's number that you have?? And a house, garden and friends are good, but still I'd worry too.

Hope your days settle ... you sound as busy as me!!

hey Porland! Just a skip (ok and a ferry, ok and a lot of Kms) but still closerish!

I think typical uber parent thing is ok ... better than not hanging out with your son at all. I wish you lots of luck job hunting, it can be tough, but don't worry - the perfect job will come along and you'll realize that there really is no decision to be made. All will fall into place.
