Glad to see your blog pop up in my Favorites. I'm no longer blogging (it's been over four years now) and writing erratically, as my poetry is not good enough to be published elsewhere and that's depressing and I don't know how to make it better.

I check in regularly, so I'll continue reading your words.

. If I were you, Summer, I'd follow it. Although, bashing the bottle over his head would be closer to how I would deal with him.

No, the yelling did not make him feel better in the long run and he'll simply do it again... and again... distance yourself from this undeserved poison... pray for your friend that she'll do the same but remember you can't be her rescuer... only your own

Well,dear, all I can say is that fellow's behavior reminds me too much of my ex-husband's. Believe me, you didn't make him feel better - at least not for very long. Miserable people spread their misery around. And I think you did a disservice to yourself.

Philadelphia? I thought you were a LOT further south than that! Stay away from these hot-headed northerners! Don't you know anything, Sister?

I don't drink either and would certainly not have stayed around to be insulted, but I don't have your overall calm and capacity to find good in any situation. HOWEVER, if he was able to be violent with you, and throwing objects, screaming and invading personal space being so close you could smell his bourbon breath is part of violence, then violence and his 'so-called' love for Laura do NOT go together. If he can't control himself with a mere friend, what will he do with someone he loves when the full emotional involvement becomes threatened or threatening?

I'm sorry you had to deal with that, Summer. No one should have to deal with that...especially someone like you, who always has everyone's best interests at heart. Instead of drinking the JD....hit him over the head with the bottle. Okay, drink it first THEN hit him over the head.
