Abraham, Martin, & John (1968) Dion
September 10, 2020 at 11:42pm
I've just set up a place to share my 1968 memories: Most of the memories of that year were pleasant ones for my folks and me. As I begin to add to the year, you'll find my memories to be lighthearted and fluffy. I showed, for instance, how I could totally lose my head over a couple of cute teachers (one during the first part of the year and another during the last part of the year). Both of those teachers passed away last year. It was a year of history and when one o... [Read more]
San Francisco (1967) Scott McKenzie
September 9, 2020 at 11:56pm
Once upon a time...long, long ago (53 years before 2020 happened) there was a year called 1967 where a lot of changes ended up taking place with most of them being for the better. It's hard to believe that I'm now going on three years older than Harold "Dutch" Creason was back when he retired from being Fall Creek Heights Elementary's principal / eighth grade teacher / head basketball coach / anything else he was needed for including helping our drop-dead-gorgeous ... Love Me With All Of Your Heart (1966) The Bachelors
September 8, 2020 at 11:56pm
{x-link:https://youtu.be/R2ZChiyNf8E}This recording by The Bachelors{/x-link} was the first version I heard of this song. During that summer, we (meaning my folks, Uncle Finley, Aunt Marce, and yours truly) took a road-trip through Mexico. There is so much to share about that trip that I've created a Sheet to share it all over a period of time (which is under construction on the day I'm writing this blog-entry): The next version I heard of it was in Spanish. On {... [Read more]
Hawaiian Wedding Song (1965) Don Ho
September 7, 2020 at 11:36pm
Actually, this song had already come out four years earlier when it was sung by Elvis Presley in a movie called {x-link:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Hawaii}Blue Hawaii{/x-link} . You can listen to that version by {x-link:https://youtu.be/HFTm3Z6z8pY}clicking here{/x-link} Elvis's version was sung in English while {x-link:https://youtu.be/eqjBCl9RC1M}the version{/x-link} by native Hawaiian, {x-link:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Ho}Don Ho{/x-link} was sung in Hawai... It's A Small World After All (1964} WED Enterprises
September 7, 2020 at 12:02am
I couldn't find a copy of the original recording of this song from 1964, but I was able to find {x-link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9YqCP_B7EU}this cover{/x-link} that does a beautiful job of it with absolutely-wonderful Illustrations. 1964 was quite a memorable year in a lot of ways. In fact, I'm in the process of constructing a sheet that will eventually be filled with stories of that year. You can go there by clicking on this link: I was eleven the summer that... [Read more]
Our Day Will Come (1963) Ruby & The Romantics
September 5, 2020 at 11:56pm
It was July 6, 1963, and my folks and I were nearing the end of a vacation that had begun in the latter part of June -- a vacation I'd helped to plan ( ). We would be home on the evening of July 7 -- a date that would drive me wild a year from then when I would be aware that it was the 24th birthday of Ringo Star. But I didn't even know that Ringo Starr existed at this time, and wouldn't know for another seven months. Anyway, we stopped at this cozy, little restaurant... [Read more]
Limbo Rock (1962) Chubby Checker
September 4, 2020 at 11:35pm
1962 was the year {x-link:https://youtu.be/W9vjjit_VXY}this catchy song{/x-link} first came out, but I believe that it was either 1963 or 1964 when it became something like {x-link:https://youtu.be/3XHxtXjcatc}Blame It On The Bosa Nova{/x-link} to me. Blame it on the Limbo Rock that I began to see Steve (who was a grade ahead of me) in a brand new light. We were having one of our soc hops at Fall Creek Heights Elementary, and Limbo Rock was played. Steve invited me to go under... [Read more]
I've Told Every Little Star (1961) Linda Scott
December 7, 2020 at 8:46pm
{x-link:https://youtu.be/RQL40yw_lsc}This song{/x-link} will always make me think of my friend, Patty, and the road-trip through the West with my mom and dad we went on back in 1961 when we were 8 and 9. Patty and I had met back when we were in kindergarten and first grade due to a little mischief I was into back then. I wrote about it in this story: We were now going to be in third grade and fourth grade when school started again. On the last day of school at the party ... [Read more]

This is the time of year when I think about {x-link:https://youtu.be/duoPMquUzpk}this song{/x-link} more than ever.
