Blog city is a wonderful place with friendly neighbours who accept my idiosyncrasies. Some will shudder at my style of writing as it is without apology, grammatically and politically incorrect.. My thoughts, opinions and bouts of madness are displayed for all to see - warts and all (even pimples and scar tissue for those who look closely). If you are a do-gooder or someone who turns the other cheek, look elsewhere. I’m giving honesty, trust and a piece of my mind.

Hi Suu,

Here I am, a stranger on the other end stopping by your blog for no other reason than to see who else is out there in the WDC blog realm.

I like the philosophical tone of your writing and the forthright way you take ownership of your rowboat. I suspect if more people did that instead of trying to pin responsibility on others perhaps we'd be more at peace with ourselves and others.

Why you happened to be at the top of the page when I clicked on 'blogs' to read, well "it was one of those inexplicable choices that Imade that has connected us for a few intangible moments.

I pretty much agree with everything you said, but all of this sounds like a recording of what we hear every now and then. Same song, second verse. People can't cope or something and turn to drugs or some other excuse to stop living and being responsible. You are completely right in that it is all about choices.

What you are seeing is the same all over. We have tried to fix some problems as a society and made matters worse. Parents are afraid to assert themselves in the raising of their children preferring to let the schools and the courts manage the task.

It began with the best of intentiions. I had a friend in High School beaten by his dad on occassion.... much more frequently and severely than one might reasonabley expect. Thus I had some sympathy to curbing this type of abuse. However in taking the monkey off many parents backs the baby got thrrown out with the bath water. Personal responsibility began to vanish as the notion of letting somebody else be the bad guy took hold. To prevent a few unwarrented "Ass Kickings" we gave marginal parents an excuse for abrogating their responsibilities. It was a big mistake and the cure became ten times worse than the problem.
