Just lovely! Kinda sideways, but it reminded me of my old Buick that I inherited when my grandfather passed away. No gloves, but little remnants of his pipe tobacco everywhere. Completely different sentiment, I know, but the poem still too me there while it was also bringing me along with the poet. I love it when reading poetry is like that!

I love the line, "where his growth scared him."

I'm also glad to be introduced to more female poets. I feel like I'm not familiar with enough of them.

I stumbled on the same line. For me, it's because it wasn't the same voice as what I'd perceived up to that point.

Gorgeous poem, though.

I am loving this activity for getting me to articulate why the poems that stick with me do stick with me, but I'm not experiencing any surprises in my personal preferences...yet.

Oh, I love this poem. Thank you for introducing me to it, and for your personal perspective. I relate to your under- or over-reacting. And to the poet's depiction of the latter.

The weirdest story....

I'm working on the weirdest story. It's funny how something just takes a hold of you and won't let you go. I had the idea for this story just kind of skirting around the edges. almost swimming in my subconscious. Then, it started to get a shape, a form...so I couldn't help but write it.

Then I'm disappointed when it doesn't flow out of the pen the way I see it in my mind.

But I keep coming back to it!!!

And so far it's got the stupidest ending ever...

The protagonist asking "Do you have any pork chops."

Someone save me from myself! *LOL*

(But at least I'm writing...)

For those in the US Have a happy 4th holiday. For those not in the US, have a happy fourth anyway!
