Just lovely! Kinda sideways, but it reminded me of my old Buick that I inherited when my grandfather passed away. No gloves, but little remnants of his pipe tobacco everywhere. Completely different sentiment, I know, but the poem still too me there while it was also bringing me along with the poet. I love it when reading poetry is like that!

I love the line, "where his growth scared him."

I'm also glad to be introduced to more female poets. I feel like I'm not familiar with enough of them.

I stumbled on the same line. For me, it's because it wasn't the same voice as what I'd perceived up to that point.

Gorgeous poem, though.

I am loving this activity for getting me to articulate why the poems that stick with me do stick with me, but I'm not experiencing any surprises in my personal preferences...yet.

Oh, I love this poem. Thank you for introducing me to it, and for your personal perspective. I relate to your under- or over-reacting. And to the poet's depiction of the latter.

Soul Washing

Thank you for this morning God!

We had a long night of rumbles from thunder, then quiet showers.

After the rain, there was a gorgeous sunrise.

My cat stretched out on the roof of my car, King of all he surveyed. The sun rising behind him was beautfiul.

Then, I had news that a revised version one of my poems "Invalid Entry"

has been accepted by Intima, a journal of narrative medicine

for publication in September.

I had completely forgotten I had submitted the work.

Today I am thankful for the chance to take a deep breath and appreciate that which has gone before, and the quiet still beauty of those still waiting in the shadows. May they too have their turn to dance in the rain.
