Prompt: Ever so often a confluence of events occur – too many restless sleepers and the phase of the moon as well as the moon’s distance from the sun and other astronomical events -- and a dream storm occurs. Here we are all snug in our beds and this cosmic storm hits. Tell us what happens in this storm.

The last thing I remember was watching one of the Khan Academy videos on Ancient Greek Art. Then I heard a noise from out in the hallway, it sounded like someone rearranging the furniture but there isn't any furniture in the hall to be moved. Or at least there wasn't any when I came into my room about a half hour ago. I hear another 'boom' and decide to have a look-see.

I open the door and instead of being in the hallway of the Pegicorn I am in the middle of Athens in the Pantheon. Not the ruins but the real thing from long, long ago! The statuary are just being placed around Athens but the Gods and Goddesses have a familiar look to them. It is unbelievable but some of the 30 day Bloggers are now Greek Gods and Goddesses and a few muses as well! Wait, these aren't statues, you are all moving and breathing and this isn't Athens it is Mt Olympus.

The first Goddess I recognize is ANN Counselor, Lesbian & Happy as Aphrodite, way to show the love! Then I run into ElaineElaine , Athena of course! Brother Nature (Doinysus) and Fivesixer (Poseidon) seem to be amused with the antics of Andre (Hermes). As Charlie ~ makes his appearance as Apollo! Wait, I recognize one more person, it is skeason wearing the tragic face of the muse, Melpomene.

We all seem to be having a grand time in this wonderful dream, I really shouldn't watch these videos after taking cough medicine with Codeine in it right before bedtime.

I awake back in my Murphy bed in my cabin on board the ship and go to make myself a cup of Colombian Roast coffee, as I pass the mirror I do a double take. In the mirror I see peering back at me, Calliope, the Greek Muse of Poetry and Eloquence. I took a 'selfie'.

Prompt: You’ve popped back home. Yes, you know no one knows you’re gone, but you’ve gotten homesick. Tell us what’s happening there.

I don't want to go home, I want to stay on board! It is scary back home, I don't like it there anymore! As you might know, I have been sick with bronchitis since 3/24 and just went back to work yesterday. I have been feeling better but the nagging cough continues. Last Friday, my Doctor sent me for x-rays and I was told that if they saw anything I would get a call on Friday. No call Friday...no call Monday...no, there was a call today. At 5:15 the nurse left a message that I need to call the Dr's office on Wednesday. Great...

Don't call me early enough in the day so I can call back the same day. No, leave an ambiguous message for me to call the next day. Now I have to wait until the morning to find out what the problem is. If there is a problem. I, of course, am thinking the worst because if there was nothing on the x-rays why would I need to call?

I am zapping myself back onto the ship and grabbing a bottle of wine...Anyone want to join me, you know where to find Panda's Place!

Prompt: We’re visiting one of the many wonderful suggested destinations - either one someone has suggested or a different one. Things do not go as planned. Tell us where we are and what kind of trouble we get into. Make the entry humorous if you can.

Andre, Andre, Andre! He stows away on the ship and then wanders off on one of the excursions! Because he was a stow away Andre does not have the ability to automatically transfer aboard ship, so now the rest of us have to find him! This ought to be interesting, to say the least!

The planet we are on is loaded with banana trees (hence Andre going awol!) and vineyards. The inhabitants, while a bit rustic love making wine so there is an abundance of wineries, which is why I was interested in visiting. There are also a great deal of coffee bean plants, and boy these guys make a mean cup of coffee!

We have all split into search parties, the first group consists of me, ElaineElaine , Prosperous Snow celebrating , Dragon is hiding and Charlie ~ ; the second group is ANN Counselor, Lesbian & Happy , Cubby ,
Lyn's a Witchy Woman , skeason and pinkbarbie . They are headed to the outskirts of the first village, some of the inhabitants have reported seeing a furry little man running around, we hope it is Andre but it could be Brother Nature ! The third group is headed to the banana plantation to the east of the second village and they include; Noyoki , Kate - Writing & Reading , Brother Nature , ROSΣANNΣ|NaPoWriMo|WGT|JDI and groovygirl . The fourth and fifth groups are headed to the third and fourth villages, each of them have banana plantations as well. The fourth group is led by sunnystarr with Being Diane , Alexi , Cheri Annemos and missbiggs . The final search party is led by Fivesixer with Cobe , Finn O'Flaherty , Kit_Carmelite and ~Minja~ .

Now, our group may have encountered a bit of a problem! I decided to look for Andre in the vineyard and the locals offered me some of the wines they had on hand and boy that is good stuff! ElaineElaine and Prosperous Snow celebrating have wandered into the coffee roasters and last I saw them they were pretty hyped up of the caffeine! I don't know for sure but I think we lost Dragon is hiding and Charlie ~ as well! Hiccup! I hope the other groups are having better luck.

"Andre! Andre! Where are you, buddy? Hiccup!"

Well, there could be worse places to be... Has anybody seen Andre?

Prompt: As we plan out various excursions, what is a place you do not want to visit?

Meh, I really don't care where we visit. I would prefer no where dangerous or too cold. Not too hot either. But really where ever we go is fine. I figure if I don't like where we are visiting I can just stay in my room and relax. You guys can go fight Yeti in the Himalayans and dragons on Alpha Centuri, I will stay in my comfy room with my mini bar and overstuffed chairs!

Prompt: On this trip you don’t have to do any cooking, cleaning or other chores. Tell us how you envision these tasks being performed.

Oh please! This is too easy! Of course, the cooking and table waiting and food delivery is all done by Andre! Right, Brother Nature ? I mean the way he runs the banana bar, he is more than qualified, I think. I found he takes orders pretty well, and as long as you don't order bananas, he delivers the food in one piece. I have known him to lick the plates, though! Just don;t let him get into the wine cellar! What a mess!

As far as the cleaning goes, ElaineElaine has minions! Yup, the little yellow guys. She picked them up at VillianCon and has had them ever since. They do a fairly decent job, but again keep them from the bananas!

When you enter your assigned room with attached bathroom on the ship, it’s bare. You may decorate and furnish your room any way you like – just say it or wish it. The only limitation is you only have one port window. Tell us what the room looks like after you finish with it.

You enter my room through a large oak door that extends from the floor to the ceiling. The walls are a lighter shade of oak and each one is composed of vast bookshelves. These are not just any bookshelves, these are magical bookshelves. There is a never-ending supply of new books. What ever book you want to read there it is. They are all leather bound editions. The main light in the room comes from a crystal chandelier hanging from the center of the room. There are also reading lights all around the room.

There is a Murphy bed along one wall. A roll-top desk in Mahogany with a leather captain's chair is located under the port window. It has on it a banker's lamp and an endless supply of notebooks and pens and ever-sharpen pencils. A large overstuffed recliner is positioned across from the bed and there is a chaise as well.

The floor is carpeted with a camel-colored plush carpet and there is a flat-screen smart TV with internet access as well. Under the TV is a constantly stocked mini-fridge and a cabinet with all kinds of snacks. I have a Keurig coffee maker and an endless supply of k-cups, plus, in the fridge I have every flavored creamer known to man!

The Voyage of the Magical Ship
Day 1 - If you could travel anywhere, where would you go. What would you expect to see, eat, smell, hear, and feel.

I am going to board the magical ship (The Pegicorn) and fly off to my favorite place, Long Beach, Ontario, Canada. The year is going to be 1984 and I am not going to have a care in the world. My parents are still going to be alive and so are all my cousins. We are going to eat s'mores and play volleyball until dawn and swim in Lake Erie everyday.

I am going to play in the sand and make sand creatures and collect crayfish in a bucket, only to have my dad tell me to throw them back into the lake. My brother, Dave and I are going to walk to Concessi's and get sodas and licorice. Then we will come back to the cottage and grab the canoe and go explore the lake shore. For dinner we are going to drive to Port Colbourne and eat at the China Star. Then we will have a huge bonfire and light off the fireworks we bought in the afternoon.

I am going to stay here forever! But, I guess I can't. I wish I could though, because this life I am living in 2015 ain't what it was cracked up to be. I have been out of work, sick, for a week now and I go back to work on Thursday. I know that they were hurting in my department but I have to worry about my own health too! I have had pneumonia twice and if I let bronchitis go for too long I can go into pneumonia again. The last thing I need is a trip to the hospital. But will my coworkers understand this?

More than likely I will walk into work Thursday and the manager will pull me into her office and reprimand me for taking time off being sick. It won't matter whether I had a doctor's note or not. She will most likely tell me I am unreliable. Just because I happened to get sick and I went to the doctor to avoid getting sicker. It is not like I call in all the time. The only times I have missed being sick I have seen the doctor and had a note taking me out.

It is very stressful working for a company/managerial staff that doesn't worry about you as an individual. Which is why I think I will jump back on the Pegicorn again...I need an ice cream!

Wildcard Monday...Day 30! You made it!

What to you is more rewarding...the journey, or the destination?

Oh certainly at my age it is the journey not the destination. I love the learning and adventure more than the prize at the end. For example, this challenge; I have no thoughts of actually winning the challenge, blogging everyday just isn't my thing. It might appear to be but it's not. I love the challenge of writing everyday and keeping it relevant and exciting. Another example is taking online classes. I am currently involved in three different courses on the website Khan Academy. https://www.khanacademy.org/ I don't really care about getting all the way through all the courses right away, if I did I would do one at a time and pat myself on the back. Instead, I enjoy the learning.

The Sunday News!

Pick a random article from the headlines and talk about it. Share your opinions and feelings about it. Encourage a conversation.

I think this idea is way overdue. Especially in Rochester, NY home of NTID ( National Technical Institute for the Deaf). I don't understand exactly how the 'closed-loop' technology works but if it helps the community of the hearing impaired then it doesn't matter if I understand it. Anything that would help anyone experience life more 'normally' than great. What I want to bring out of this article is the quote from the representative from the grocery retailer "TOPS". Here is his excerpt from the article...

Huckle said Tops customers with hearing loss already are well-served.

"Certainly if that unique patient comes along and wants us to do something along those lines, we would seriously consider putting that in. If it becomes more of a regulation mandated by the state then obviously we would do that as well."

Now, unless this man actually suffers from hearing loss, how can he know for sure, that "customers with hearing loss already are well-served". They may not be complaining, they may not be requesting new technologies but that may not mean they are well-served. the example of Wegmans is pro-active. Correct a need before the community requests or demands it. Here , clearly, Tops is responding after the need arises, which I believe is a problem with society in general. We need to get ahead of requests, not wait until the need presents itself.

Creation Saturday!

What do you think are the three most important elements of a successful blog entry?

I think the three most important qualities of a successful blog are 1) being a well-written, well thought out entry, 2) being only one topic, and 3) that topic being relevant to a multitude of readers. Now, that being stated I know for a fact that I do not write that many successful blog entries. Mine are usually missing at least one if not at times all three of these qualities. I also know for a fact that 'true bloggers', ones that have been doing this longer than I have and have been reading other blogs, are going to have a completely different list.

The most important of these qualities is the well-written entry. If an entry has a large amount of spelling or grammatical errors a reader many lose interest before they have explored the whole entry. This may also lead a reader to not revisit your blog. A large amount of errors shows a lack of thought and a lack of consideration of the reader. Each entry should be proof read before being saved. now, do I follow this simple and basic rule? Nope! I treat my blog like a journal of sorts, unless I am doing one of the challenges. I don't even consider myself 'competing' in the challenge because I can easily be outblogged 75% of the time. Every once in a while I find inspiration and I nail a prompt. Why do I participate then? Because I have meet some really cool writers by in the blogosphere and I like participating with them.

The second quality is keeping to one topic. I understand this is a difficult endeavor because of the multitude of prompts on WDC. But, for a truly effective entry I feel an entry should be brief and to the point. This is another rule I break, often. I tend to set my blogs up like they are a high school essay. Like this one, I state my point and then I write a paragraph defending each point. So much for brevity!

The third quality is keeping it relevant. If you want your blog read you need to make readers want to read it. Duh! *Facepalm* Not many people are going to want to read about the amount of earwax you drained from your ear or whether your dog has a yeast infection. But, each blog is a personal journal, out for everyone to read! Maybe your blog is successful for you and you are the only one who is reading it.

In conclusion, (here we go to essay form) these are the qualities that constitute a great blog entry. It should be well-written, concise, and interesting. Now, how many rules did I break?

Funny Friday!

Of all the days in the week during the 30-Day Blogging Challenge, 'Funny Friday' seems to take the most abuse. Why is that? What could make it funnier for you?

Personally, I enjoy creative writing. Writing happy, funny, quirky anecdotes gives me a creative outlet for my quirky personality. I have always enjoyed creative writing. Some people don't. That is what makes writing such a great thing. People can express themselves in a multitude of ways. On this site alone you can find poetry, short stories, and non-fiction entries. Within each of these there are countless types of entries, comedy and humor being just one. Given that this is a blogging challenge within a blogging group you have really narrowed your type of writer.

Most bloggers that I have read, which is not a huge amount, I am no expert, seem to write about current experiences that either involve them or have an effect on them. This type of writing typically is nonfiction. What you are asking for in this challenge, and we all understand this when we sign up, is a diverse collection of writing. Some of the days are opinion, some are thought-provoking and others are creative writing. Your hope is that each day we can find a spark within ourselves to write based on the prompt provided. This, at times, is difficult.

The main reason it is difficult is just because it is Funny Friday does not mean that we all will find something funny that day to write about. It may be our mood, our health, or our personalities are not allowing us to explore our funny bone. Because I enjoy creative writing my favorite two days are Funny Friday and Creation Saturday. The toughest days for me are the opinion ones. I have a hard time articulating my thoughts into words, at times. These are the quirks you, as moderator, have to deal with. You are subjecting yourself to the opinions of many writers. From what I understand writers can be an arrogant, self-righteous lot...present company excluded of course!

That being said, I have no idea how to make Funny Friday funnier, you just might have a group of bloggers who have no sense of humor or have sticks up their butts...

Here are some funny entries from me though to get you through the day... *Smile* *Bigsmile* *Laugh* *Facepalm*

Opinion Thursday!

Florida governor Rick Scott recently banned the use of the term "climate change" in official state business, while renowned scientists are becoming increasingly concerned about it. What do you think? Should scientists stay out of politics, or are politicians doing the public a greater disservice by not acknowledging rapid and severe changes in weather patterns?

Asking scientists to stay out of politics would lead to running this country with one arm tied behind its back. The Manhattan Project was funded by the government, NASA is a government agency! The CDC is a national agency! Why would you want to keep some of the smartest people in the country completely removed from politics? Now, should politicians stay out of science....well, that is a good idea for a future blog!

From the War Chest...

Do you think certain authors/writers have a particular voice? How would you describe your voice?

I think authors and poets have a certain voice. I also think that the really great authors have more than one voice and this enables them to write different novels with varying characters and still be enjoyable. You want to be able to read different novels by the same author and feel like you are reading different novels. I don't believe I have found my voice yet, at least not in my fiction writing. I think my poetry voice comes through in most of my poems but then again, I am still experimenting with it.

I don't think authors and poets define there own voice, I think an author's work defines their voice.

What do you think will cause the end of the Earth?

Since the question is what will cause the end of the earth, I think this link is appropriate. The sun eventually go through it's cycle and turn into a red giant and engulf the earth. http://www.space.com/23154-death-of-sun-will-destroy-earth-infographic.html

Now, if the question had been what will destroy life on earth...that might have been more difficult to answer.

http://entertainthis.usatoday.com/2015/03/22/taylor-swift-porn-sites-domains/

Every once in a while I realize I need a 'swiftamine'. I really thought I didn't like Taylor Swift until I caught myself singing along with "Shake it Off". Now, I know I like her music...oh God! Did I just say that? Is that written in black and white? Oh well, what is done is done! But yes, I do like her music but after reading this article I love her business savvy. I mean, at first glance this seems really weird that she would buy these sites but when you think about it it makes perfect sense. Like they state in the text, she now will not have to worry about some perv getting a hold on these sites! I just may need to find a dose of "Swiftamine" though!

Tell us about your alter-ego.

This girl I know, my alter-ego,
the one I know as mi amigo.
She has moxie and some sass,
oftentimes a pain in the ass.
She is sexy, a bit unrefined,
quick to give a piece of her mind.
An evil twin, to my meager self,
I try to keep her on a shelf.
I wish at times she would hide,
and my alter-ego would subside.
But out she comes, strong and loud
just long enough to make me proud!

Funny Friday!

There is something in the air that is making everyone in the vicinity laugh uncontrollably. Write an anecdote, a story or a poem about it.

There is nothing funny about having an abscessed tooth. Nothing at all! the pain is excruciating and all they seem to want to do at the dentist's office is add to that pain. they make you chomp down on a wad of God-knows-what about a billion times to x-ray, when clearly they can see which tooth is the problem. Then , hey, let's poke around the sore tooth with this pointy object to make sure we got the right one! SCREAMS! Yup, that is it alright. WooHoo! Let's go in and pull that sucker out! 'Bout time I'd say! You're going to give me nitrous oxide, right? Sure we are...

The dental assistant applies the mask and turns the valve. Okay, this feels a bit better, but wait why is she laughing? In walks Dr. Gonnapullitout and he just glares at her and then begins to laugh, uncontrollably. Okay people, what's the joke? Just pull my damn tooth! I am not amused and the gas doesn't seem to be alliviating any of my suffering. Great hear he comes with a set of pliers, laughing hysterically! Oh no! Back way from me, I ain't under yet! In walks another dentist, who is also laughing now. I look around the office and what do my wondering eyes see? Well, the tank full of nitrous oxide is NOT hooked up to my mask, it is delivering gas to everyone but me! I am soooo out of here! Great! My tooth still hurts!

Opinion Thursday!

This week a high school in Western New York voted to no longer use the term "Redskins" as their mascot, because it is considered racially insensitive to Native Americans. There were strong arguments from both sides...some see the name as maintaining tradition and local pride, while others believe using an offensive name sends the wrong message to those who represent the school district. How responsible is a school in regards to establishing and maintaining a healthy relationship within its community?

I do think that schools should be held responsible for establishing and maintaining a healthy relationship within the community. They need to be held at a higher standard than other groups and businesses because of the influence the have over children. Just as state and local governments need to be held to a higher standard. The children will expect a certain level of respect from the school district and react to it. The kids will never reach that level of respect but the lower the bar held by the school the lower the bar set for the students.
