I am Nellie's Ellie.

My Momma's name was Nellie.

My name is Ellie.



I was Momma's first girl.

I did not act like a girl.

I followed seven brothers.



But I had six younger sisters.

They acted very girly.

But I was the first girl.



Family and friends called me "Nellies Ellie"

I would throw my shoulders back in pride.

I would hold one finger up.



Then proudly announce,

"That is me, "that is me".

I am Nellie's Ellie.
