I think that as with any kind of writing, responding to a prompt can sometimes spark nothing... but for me, if I just start writing something, anything, an idea will come.

Sometimes I have to really think hard and if nothing comes just admit it and move on to the next one.

These are good prompts. I've been around the 30-Day for awhile so some were familiar. Now I'm trying to learn to spin them in a new way or make the old news work better.

My Reality Show is a Hit

PROMPT May 27th

If your life were a song, 1) what genre would it be, 2) who would sing it, and 3) would it be a hit?

My life is not so much a song as it is a reality show. People have told me that for a long time. Drama, intrigue, mystery, adventure, comedy, romance, and a little bit of vigilante justice all mixed into one. And it isn't because I go looking for all these crazy things to pop into my life. It's the fact, or maybe I should say phenomenon, that they keep finding me. Of course I've always looked at life as a great adventure. Smiles and tears, joy and grief. It's all in there. And I know I'm supposed to be the director of the show, but dang if that doesn't always turn out. Are my escapades worthy of an academy award? Well, yes, some of them are indeed worthy of a gold statue. Are some just plain duds that need to be thrown into the recycle bin? Well, yes, that's true too. One thing I can say for sure is that the reality show called my life is always full of comedy and drama. It's just the way it is.

BUT...if my life were a song? Gosh, there are so many to choose from! The rolodex in my brain can only hold so many titles before it's full. And what about all the music I haven't heard? I'm not sure my brain could hold all of it. Some lovely, some jazzy, some happy, some sad, some crazy. How could I even choose?

At the end of the day, I'd have to say my life would be rock and roll. From the 80's. The kind that makes you snap your fingers and follow along. The kind that makes you move your hips. And your shoulders. The kind that makes you want to stay forever in the song. The kind that's honest and true. The kind that makes a reality show worth living.

And yes, my song would be a hit.
