"Blogging Circle of Friends" furnishes the prompts & I write about them...

What is Circle Time?
&
Why did I decide to name this blog after it?...

[C]ircle Time is an activity that is often done in the early grades (usually, from preschool/nursery school through first grade) where the students assemble in a semi-circle facing their teacher who will read a story to them; teach a lesson; listen to them read (either individually or as a group); or any other activity that is more effectively-done in an intimate setting than being spread out at their desks throughout the classroom.

[S]tudents are often divided into two or three groups (in the case of working on reading, math, etc.) so that part of the class is being taught while the other students are doing busy work at their desks.

[I]n some schools, students are grouped according to their progress -- I'm sure you've heard of those kinds of groupings that call each group by the name of a bird species -- but we were called in alphabetical order instead.

[A]nyway...back to how this blog got its name...

[F]or one thing (the most OBVIOUS thing), it's a blog that has been designed with using it to write something using prompts furnished by Blogging Circle of Friends  .

[H]owever, a couple more reasons have to do with Kindergarten -- and, specifically, my Kindergarten days at 29th Street School in Anderson where I could be a handful at times. One shining example of this was how I met my friend, Patty. This story has found a place in my memoirs and has been given the following title:

[T]his was an example of how getting in a little mischief sometimes pays off, because I not only satisfied my curiosity but, also, got a really wonderful friend out of the deal. You know something? I just used a word that reminds me of Patty, and I didn't even mean to do it. Anyway, that just tells me that I need to write a story and call it "Invalid Entry.

[A]nyway, I remember when Patty and I were out sitting on her porch, and she came up with this really neat game where she said that she would make a scribble for me to turn into a picture. After that, I would make a scribble for her to turn into a picture. And so on and so forth...

[I]n a sense, those scribbles were prompts of sorts given by one person to inspire another one -- which is what's contained in this blog: getting inspiration from things such as quotes; clusters of words; videos; etc. that have been shared with us by another person to get our creative juices going.

[I]nspired by each other's scribbles, Patty and I came up with some pretty unique pictures (at least in our early-grade-school minds).

[A]fter learning this game from Patty, I shared it with some of my other friends and we played it. Quite likely, some of those friends shared the game with others. I have no idea whether this had been a game that Patty had come up with herself or if somebody had taught it to her.

[I]t was, obviously, an activity that was worth sharing with others so that they could join the fun. I hope that reading what I write in this blog will inspire you to want to find out more about B.C.O.F. and join in the fun.

[E]ven if you aren't interested in blogging with us, I hope you'll find this a great place to do some reading!!!

Not Now Bat, Instead, Later
August 31, 2018 at 11:45pm
PROMPT: In October, the prequel to Dracula is being released by Bram Stoker's Great-Grandnephew Dacre Stoker. The book is called Dracul. How about writing a paragraph or two of a prequel to Dracula and then when the book is released you can see how you did compared to his. This could be a lot of fun. Interesting bat of news. Will need more time to digest it and will get bat with you later here: Member of: Come join our remarkable ... [Read more]
Both Are Needed
August 30, 2018 at 11:50pm
PROMPT: Let's discuss books versus e-books? Do you prefer reading books or using e-readers? When e-readers first came out everyone thought that books would finally die off but that doesn't appear to be the case or is it too soon to tell. Should authors focus on publishing e-books instead of traditional books? What are your thoughts ? As a reader of both e-books and traditional books, I believe that both are needed. E-books are space-savers and allow me to rea... [Read more]

PROMPT: Another month is almost upon us, what are your plans for September? Fall cleaning, travel, decorating for Halloween, canning, going off to school, celebrating your kids return to school, I have more in the works than what I've written below, and you can go here to check it out: Fall cleaning Actually, I've already started fall cleaning in a lot of different ways — some in real life and some virtual. I'm working... [Read more]
Here-And-There Is Home
August 27, 2018 at 11:53pm
PROMPT: Write about My Home. Time is short, so all I can say is that, at this time, it's scattered here and there with lots in storage; some in my cozy, little apartment; and the rest here and there in my physical community and my virtual community. I have a lot to say on the subject of home including that it will be 5 years this September 9 since I joined the ranks of the homeless for a little over a year. August 25, 2018 at 11:58pm
PROMPT: Write about something beautiful in your area of the world. When I read this prompt many hours ago, I knew exactly what — or should I say whom — I wanted to write about, but I didn't get it done. But I'm going to leave you with two bitems and a link that will take you to three places where you'll find a growing number of nice things I have to say about Larry!!! It All Began With My First Loose Tooth...
August 22, 2018 at 11:58pm
PROMPT: https://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-tooth-fairy-day-august-22/ It's National Tooth Fairy Day! Do you have a favorite memory or tradition related to the tooth fairy? What's the going rate for a tooth now where you live? Like for me, the tooth fairy left a dime under my pillow. As seems to be the case these days more often than not, I've been getting really inspired to write a whole bunch of things about the prompt but, due to having several... [Read more]
The CanMan Can -- And Does!!!
August 21, 2018 at 11:59pm
PROMPT: August 21 is National Senior Citizen Day. The traditional definition of a senior citizen is any one over the age of 60. Write a tribute to or something inspiring you learned from a Senior Citizen. Larry and I were both senior citizens when we became friends back in 2013, and he has taught me a whole lot of things such as how recycling works; what it's like at Ronald McDonald House; and a lot of other ways we can work together to make the world a better plac... Tribute To A Very Special Angel Named Aretha
August 20, 2018 at 11:58pm
PROMPT: Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul. Write a tribute or about one of her songs. There are a lot of entertainers out there who are talented in their own right, and some like Aretha Franklin are especially outstanding with lots of great hits. That alone would make her someone too good to forget. {embed:https://youtu.be/J6dQ2Qi0r78} But there's even more to her than her singing and piano-playing talent. {x-link:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Are... Lightning Bug Lantern Light
August 18, 2018 at 11:47pm
PROMPT: Write about a special summer's evening. One example of a special summer's evening would be how my cousins and I would collect fireflies (We called them lightning bugs back then) in a jar with breathing holes punched in the lid. We'd then take the jar of fireflies/lightning bugs into a dark bedroom where it would become our lantern while we sat in a circle taking turns telling "spook tales." After we were done, we'd take the jar out... [Read more]
The Value Of Vestigial Parts
August 16, 2018 at 11:57pm
PROMPT: “Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there." ~ Ray Bradbury Do you agree or disagree? If so what will you leave behind? This is one of the Vestigial Parts ... [Read more]
Chicken & Shoes
August 9, 2018 at 11:57pm
PROMPT: If Cinderella's shoe fit perfectly, why did it fall off? Here's a little story for you — and it really did happen. There were these members of the men's football team at their college who had — as one might imagine — very big appetites after football practice. They were pleased that the local five & dime was offering all-you-can-eat chicken on weekends. Each weekend they would go there and eat!-Eat!!-EAT!!! After this had gone on for ab... [Read more]
But What If The Third Thing Happens!?!
August 7, 2018 at 11:58pm
PROMPT: “When you get to the end of all the light you know and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.” ― Edward Teller What do you think about this quote? Outcome #3 is the kind of situation where you find yourself with neither solid ground to stand on nor wings to fly. Should this happen, there just might be... [Read more]
Just Like Doing The Hokey-Pokey!!!
August 6, 2018 at 11:51pm
PROMPT: Let these four words inspire your blog entry: love, faith, hope, and charity. {embed:https://youtu.be/s_P9PU5FcMQ} Having love, faith, hope, and charity in ones life is like doing the hokey-pokey, because that's what a well-lived life is all about. We thrive on love. As another old song says, it makes the world go 'round. God is love, and we're made in His image. First Corinthians, Chapter 12 describes what love at its most ideal should... PROMPT: biscuit fresh established vain vegetation project Use these words in your entry. Right at the moment, a nice, warm, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth buttermilk biscuit fresh from the oven sounds like a wonderful plan to me. This seems to be my established status for the time being: That I've been diligently working on something — and surely not in vain — on some kind of elaborate creative vegetation while everybody is pr...
