We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .
― Charles Spurgeon

Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.
― C. H. Spurgeon

Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.
― Charles Haddon Spurgeon

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.
― Charles Spurgeon

A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.
― Charles Spurgeon

Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.
― Charles Spurgeon

When your will is God's will, you will have your will.
― Charles Spurgeon

Corner turned,
scenery has changed.
Weather's warm is learned.
Bigger hopes make something new.
Daily smiles, strength yearned.
Scenery has changed,
corner turned.

Sun seen,
blanket of sky.
God's Face, glowing sheen.
Wings protecting all of life.
Painting day, lovely scene.
Blanket of sky,
sun seen.

Eternity nears,
wonderment in bliss.
Tired soul, newly cheers,
never needs to sleep, again.
Gone are earthly fears.
Wonderment in bliss,
eternity nears.

Jesus brings such great relief
from days of harshest frost.
Th'enemy is never chief
'side He, Who paid the cost.

The gift of wondrous spring will come
when cold has finished well
the strengthening of part and sum
with newest life to tell.

The Wisdom of this Jesus, Lord,
is far beyond our minds.
We weep, and wonder when His Word
will open eyes still blind.

For spring may seem a fairy tale,
while bitterest winter bites,
and causes hope to freeze and fail
through snowy days and nights.

Yet, when the Bridegroom's family, friends
call those with lamps so bright,
the time of fear and pain it ends
as He makes all now right.

The Wondrous Spring will ever live,
while Winter redeemed, new,
will share its joys and ever give
such hope to me and you.

In Wondrous Spring the summer, fall,
and winter, too, entwined,
will share the joy of Jesus, all.
Created things, refined.

Freedom from the coldest blasts.
Now the days in warmth do shine.
Fly a flag from the highest mast,
"Springtime lifts the hearts, that pine."

Cold the nights with coldest temps.
Frozen blanket moisture casts.
Warmed by thoughts in hoped attempts.
Freedom from the coldest blasts.

Forecast nights of warmer ways.
Gentle breath of breeze so kind.
Almost hot the springtime stays.
Now the days in warmth do shine.

Hopeful hearts embrace the rest.
Dance a jig. Be free from the past.
"Winter's cold, the bygone test,"
fly a flag from the highest mast.

Respite brings the brightest gift.
Solid path the people find.
Days of grace, emotions shift.
"Springtime lifts the hearts, that pine."

To rest upon His mighty arms
we give this charge to all,
"The safest place from all alarms
is where He bids by call."

We help all those, who list to hear
the wisdom of the Lord,
but those, who fall prey to a fear
we nourish from His Word.

The daily servants of the soul
may find their way too strait.
Corrections make some lost ones whole,
although sometimes too late.

To rest in Jesus as we pray
for those, who we cannot save
brings awful sadness, naught to say,
embrace the empty grave.

A rest for us may never be
for some, but some in time.
Redemption comes as Hope to see
as pulled from pit and grime.

Trials and tribulations keep
us looking up to God.
Hopeful thoughts, and hope to reap
are things we can applaud.

Someday when we're living in
the sweet, sweet By and By
we'll see just what He came to win
beyond this Earth and sky.

Trials can weigh the burdened heart,
and make us wear a cloud,
but looking up to Jesus starts
the ship to turn about.

The sadness of our tribulating
life is not a joy.
Yet, Grace, and all its peace persuading,
strength it will employ.
