Before Frozen Part II: In Which We See How Difficult Living In The Castle Was During The Years Of Isolation A self-insert fanfic that will probably be awkward and perhaps embarrasing. This is, of course, a fanfiction based on the Disney movie franchise Frozen. As of now, it will contain five parts (probably unless they make a third movie, lol) which will cover the events before Frozen, during the time lapse of "Do You Want To Build A Snowman", during the main events of Frozen, in between Frozen I and II, and during Frozen II. The narrative will mostly follow a new character, Finn, who will provide the basis of the new material in the story, and through his eyes, we will look at the events of the familiar story in a new light. I am writing this primarily for people who are already familiar with the movies (as I believe most fanfictions are written) but I'm trying to give enough information that you do not have to have seen the movies to follow along. Part II tracks the events of Anna and Elsa's childhood, which was mostly glossed over in the movie through the song "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?". I have no problem with the movie doing this, but I feel like maybe there is a lot of interesting tension and trauma that can be discovered if we think about what life really must have been like for children living in these circumstances. The story will still, however, focus more on the character of Finn and how he feels about the situation and how he observes the feelings of Anna and Elsa. The way that I'm going to write this is very loosely defined. I have a beginning point, and I know where I want to end, but how it's going to get from point A to point B is as much a mystery to me as it is to you. At times, it may seem like more of an anthology series of anecdotes that could be read in any order, but I do have a skeleton structure to apply to the story that will be noticeable and somewhat important to character development in later parts. For the most part, I'm just trying to have fun writing, so whatever scene I think would be interesting to write, or whatever event I think of next, I'll write down and add in. If I ever write anything out of chronological order, I'll make sure to note that in the chapter heading so there isn't any confusion. As I forewarned at the end of the intro to Part I, I have no idea how this story is going to turn out. I don't expect it to be any masterpiece of literature that anyone will love as much as I do. I simply love the aesthetic and the world of the Frozen franchise, and I want to explore that world more from my own point of view, and, as with any artist, I have a burning fire in my soul that begs to be observed by other people. I have an inherent need to create not just for myself, but for the art to exist in the world. So, this might not be your cup of tea, but I'm having a fun time writing it in between all the serious stuff that I do, and I hope maybe you'll have a little fun reading it, too. |
