In Old Post, Ohio, Symon and his friends are searching for who killed their friend, Jack.
[Introduction]
Jack was killed in 1987, when he and Symon and their friends were seniors in high school. Story is set in 2007.

Symon was involved with Kirsi Randall all through high school. She was the only reason he considered staying in Old Post; when Symon graduated, he left Ohio for a new life in California.

Hank Strothers was the school bully, once suspected of killing Jack.

Oscar Smith was another of Symon and Kirsi's friends. Oscar ws the nerdy scholar who eventually went to MIT.
