The senses of the passage.
[Introduction]

Entering into The Word/ An essay about 1 John 1-4

1What we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life- 2and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the father and was manifested to us- 3 have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and His Son Jesus Christ. 4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.
This I have to write of its powerful message. That we see here the Word of life which is Christ, John also encourages how important it is to fellowship and have joy. But also there is powerful thought process involved here, our senses: The three major ones sight, hearing and touch. Smell and taste usually comes in recognizing food substance.
But hearing, seeing and then touching beholds a powerful message especially about our Savior and about life. To really live we have to use these senses to perform for or in anything, Sports, Jobs.
This almost reminds me of Hebrews with only one sense, 12:2 Telling us to fix our eyes on Jesus which I take that there whether we are at relaxed state fixing our mind rather on Him and possibly an image of Christ. As it once said, eyes are the windows to our soul. Perhaps it is the one sense that is a portal of letting things in us. One of those things are thoughts. These thoughts are let in so they can manifest easily within our mind. Even John uses the eye approach twice, telling us about focus. We see then we look we begin to focus on what or who is ahead of us or in our presence. That is how we begin to understand the Word of God. By hearing seeing and touching. You can only get involved in Gods Will with all three senses.
The word manifest is one to be looked at very closely. The Webster's Dictionary defines the word manifest:
1 readily perceived by the senses and by the sight, easier understood, or obvious; some of words for manifest as an adverb: apparent, broad, clear, distinct, evident, lucid, obvious, palpable, patent, perspicuous, plain, transparent, unambiguous, unequivocal, unmistakable.
2 To make evident or certain by showing or displaying.
It is clear that when Christ is present or made known, all of these are taken into in effect.
