How relationships change after break up.
[Introduction]
The Change
Slowly, as the nights go by,
The transformation progresses
Not unnoticed, but simply overlooked by us
Some actions ignored
Further evidenced by words
That hint
That nudge
That push
Finally became too much
Like a dam overflowing
It all hit me at once
I couldn’t hold back the hurt in my voice.
Uncertainty tainted my tone,
Sadness leaked from my mouth,
In the only two words I spoke
I realized my mistake
After I sputtered I strived to rein it in
Don’t let him hear these things
Too fragile is this change
It all may be too much.
There is a future that I fear
I fear the broken remnants
I fear the field being bare
I have the simple fear
Of having no one here
I know where we stand
Or at least that is what I believed
We know our future
To some degree
I want the transformation to progress
To be something that will stay green
That can thrive as we age
Naivety whispers it can happen
My mind wonders if it can
My heart throbs a certain no
I cannot control this change
I cannot control the melding heat
All I can do is be open
And see where it will lead
