Short(micro) story: a figment of my imagination
[Introduction]
Rain was here. They climbed up cautiously, one step at a time, water running beneath their feet. They had to reach the peak. The birds called out, chipmunks scurried for shelter. The trees looked greener. There was freshness in the air. Her heart danced with joy. She kept looking around for a peacock. It could be a good sign, she thought. Soon we will be on top. It turned from a drizzle to thunderstorm. Mud flowed with the water under their feet. Pebbles broke away due to friction and rolled down. Be careful! They warned each other. They had to cross a rivulet and then they would be there, the top. “Be careful!” He called out again. It was dark. Dark clouds shrouded the sky. “The water is not too deep”, she thought. She put one step, then another into the wild waters below. “I will cross it easily, don’t worry, you watch your step.”,she said. They started. Then there was a sudden bolt of thunder. Deafening cracking sound, breaking of rocks and then complete darkness. He found himself on the green grass, looking up at the sky, the freshness of rain soaked earth filling up his senses. It was serene. He breathed in the fresh air. The birds called out, chipmunks scurried for shelter. The trees looked even greener. He looked around for a peacock. But he found holding her scarf. She was nowhere to be seen. It was still raining.
