Gotta keep this moving along. So EVERYBODY please if you're going to take a while just email me!
I sat in my sitting room brushing my long multicolored metallic hair. A ritual brushing. My desceased mother used to tell me that a princess without the lure of appearence was no princess at all. Lavire was so much better at being a princess than I. I wanted adventure, love, and to one day rule Cresio as its Matriarch. Duty and appearance... A knock at the door averted my attention. "Chali I am disposed at the moment please ask whomever it is to take his or her leave." I told my attendent. Chali opened the door, and who barged in, no other than Prince Falik.

"Your Highness, King Dariu sent me. May I escort you to the Hall of Destiny where he awaits?"He paused looked at me. "Or perhaps you wish to change into something more suitable?" He asks smugly. I looked down and noticed that I was only in my underclothes.

"Falik! You may turn your back, sir!" I replied quickly. He turned around. I sprinted into my dressing room, Hall of Destiny... What could Father want in the Hall of Destiny?

Chali came in to help me with my gown. I quickly braided my hair and placed my mother's crown atop my head. "Well I suppose this shall have to do. I said to Chali. I entered my sitting room to see Falik waiting patiently, he arose swiftly. "Princess..." He started, but stopped. He composed himself. "Shall we away to visit your father?" He replied openning the door.

"Lead the way, Prince Falik."
"Finneas is missing?" I started, thinking aloud to myself."But I thought he was just sent on a routine mission to Rotide?" Rotide the neighboring land, filled with mortals. Oh and not regular mortals, humans... Dwarfs, giants, shapeshifters, I could stand them, but humans, just make my skin crawl.

"Yes Princess Larina, I just told you that." Falik replied.

I stopped walking for a moment, taken aback by Falik's sharpness and his incredibly formal tone. He knew that I hated my title. "Falik what in the devil's name is going on around here?" I snapped at him.

He turned and paused as if he were searching fo the right words. "Larina," He began.

I waltzed up to him, pushed him against the wall and spoke, "Falik you have always assumed that only if I have my staff that I can cast a spell. The staff only magnifys the magic that comes from my fingertips, I don't usually speak in a threatening tone. But if you don't tell me exactly what is going on, I do know a very dangerous truth spell that will tell me what I want to know. Though it may kill you in the process." I paused, turned my head a bit, I smelt that indisguisable stench, human. "I want to know why we are going to the Hall Of Destiny, and what happened to Finneas."

He turned, "Larina do you smell what I smell?"

"Human?"

"Yes...Human"

"A Human in the Land Of Elves, and it hasn't been noticed by anyone yet? Falik I can't stand that smell any longer!" I said, holding my nose quite unladylike. I felt as if i would pass out.

"The Human must be close..." He whispered. We looked at each other, alarm in his eyes and presumingly in mine as well. He looked down the stairway that was only a few yards away. "The Hall of Destiny." We spoke in sync. I cast a Sight Of Shadow Spell. It would create a trail of all those that had gone down the stairs Blue indicated one of the Royal family, Green was for Falik and his kind. Sparkling bright breen stars confirmed that a Human had indeed been headed to the Hall Of Destiny.

"No one but the Royal Family, Finneas, and you know the secret. Right?" I asked.
Larina: The Hall of Destiny had been cleared of all those whom had been there, including the body of Chali and the foreign warrior Qnalis. The Captain of the Guards ushered everyone out and to their respective rooms. I stayed a moment and quietly chanted a Stain Lifting spell, as that was the only thing that would remove the blood that stainded the crystal flooring. I exited the Hall readying myself to speak as Cresio's leader in my father's absense. Falik was waiting at the top of the stairs.

"Falik my father almost died today. I need to know the whole truth. I cannot address the people of Cresio without knowing what exactly must be done." I pleaded with him, trying so hard not to cry, but to be the princess everyone thought I was.

"Do you really want to know why you were summoned to the Hall?" He asked quietly.

"Perhaps I do not want to know why, but I must know why for the sake of Cresio Falik, please tell me." Again pleading with him.

He stopped, as did I, and turned to me. "Larina, I will tell you all I know, but we must go somewhere that the walls do not have ears." He whispered.

"We could go my tower, the one I practice my magic in." I said he began to walk. "Falik it would take at least a day to walk there, the tower is almost eight miles from here." He looked at me puzzeled. "I always go by spell and not by feet."

"Hold my hand." I told him. I then whispered the words. "Appareiu Tollrus." We appeared at the bottom of a tower standing alone in the midst of immense Galleo trees. The tower was painted to match the trees so that most would not find it, unless they were looking specifically for it. The tower had no doors and no windows.

"Larina. How will we get in?" He asked unsure.

"My password of course. You don't think I would actually let just anyone waltz into the tower where all of my magic secrets are, do you?" I asked him with a chuckle. I walked up to the tower and whispered my password to the stones. The stones rearranged themselves to form a doorway. "Well Falik, come on." I said already halfway into the tower. He entered the tower and the doorway suddenly closed, almost catching his foot in it. The tower was dark, having no door or window to keep it light. I cast an illuminating spell and the entry way was awash in natural looking light.

"That's a danger to all fairies!!!" He wailed having almost lost his wings amidst the stones.

"No, it is a precaution. Follow me up these stairs." We walked up the long stairway to the top. The tower room was where all my practice took place. I closed the dood behind him.

"I had heard rumors that Lord Massiue was mobilzing his army, and that he had lost some unicorn in the process. And my father called me without my sister to the Hall without any mention of what it was about. How do Humans, the Fairies, presumablly the Dwarves, the ancient Mystics, and now Cresian Elves, tie in to all of this madness!? Now Falik tell me what you know, every detail of it no matter how small."

Dariu:
I watched Finneas sleep. I layed in my bed as I felt still a little pain but not much anymore.

I stood from my bed and began to walk across the room to the door. I walked out and came forth to the Hall of Destiny.

"I couldn't even protect myself from that scroundrel," I told myself. "What if it was my country instead of just I?" I couldn't stop thinking about this because I knew of the consequences that could've happen.

"I hope I can fullfill, what I need done," I said quietly to myself.

I sat in the Hall of Destiny for a while and walked around it. "It truely is an amazing site now that I have time to actually notice it.

For the first time in a while, I felt a smile come across my lips, and my eyes light up with enjoyment.

"I hope everyone is okay. What is Finneas doing back anyway?" This thought wouldn't leave me. 'Why was Finneas back?' The thought kept pondering me; as if it were haunting me of a frightful past memory.

I walked around the Hall of Destiny hoping no one noticed me.

Calto: The wind carried with it scents. Within those scents are information. Maybe not always useful, but maybe. I sensed a terrible event. The wind and the earth all told me the story. Cresio was in danger. Lord Massiue must have finally chosen to start a war. I was on my way to the castle, to see my beloved Lavire. We were to wed in less than two months the first day of spring. She was so beatiful, so graceful.

My thoughts left Lavire and crossed back to Cresio. If Cresio fell, there would be no wedding. I quickened my pace, my king would need me. I am his most trusted warrior, and his soon to be son. King Dariu always spoke of me being the son he never had. I would have to be strong for him, Lavire, and Cresio. My strength would be enough to aid my lord, my king. I was ready, I am powerful. Nothing could stand in my way.

I arrived at the castle and was told to go to the Hall of Destiny. The Hall of Destiny? That room was only used to give a warrior a suicide mission. No one had ever returned from a Destiny Mission. I shuddered at the thought of it. I needed to stay alive, for Lavire. Then when I come back from my mission, we will wed and live happily forever.
Larina: I held the secrets of the Gem, though no one knew. "Falik." I said turning to a stone in the room.

"What would you show me?" He said puzzled.

"The Gem is not where you think it is." I touched the stone and uttered the words I knew. The beautiful precious Gem appeared.

"I..I thought the Gem was in the Hall?"

"The COPY of the Gem is in the Hall. This tower holds many secrets. This is just one of them. Not even Lavire knows of the true reason of the tower. She has been here of course for her lessons, but she knows naught og it's purpose."

"But do you know how to use the Gem?"

"Well of course I do, though I have only uncovered a few of it's secrets. Vision, Interdimentsional travel, among a few others. This Gem cannot under any circumstances fall into the evil claws of Lord Massiue." I said thinking. "We must away to the castle I sense that our long 'lost' friend Finneas is back, and my father is back in the Hall." I said putting the gem back, whispering a new password, and pulling Falik back down the stairs. We went out side, and he grabbed onto my hand as before "Appareiu Castile."

We arrived back in my room, and we went to the Hall to see my father. Maybe we would get some more answers.
Larina: Falik left my father and came to me. "Larina I believe the King has something important for you to decide." He said. King Dariu had left the Hall quickly, and then came back after less than an hour.

He ushered me into the Hall. Falik by my side. Lavire was also there with her Promised One, Calto. "My daughters." He looked at me and Lavire. "My strongest Warrior." He looked at Calto. "And my greatest friend's son." He looked at Falik. "I have brought you here for one reason alone. There is a unicorn, not just any unicorn, but a special one. A hide of gold. Eyes of steel. Hooves of obsidian, and a horn of diamond. This unicorn is the most magical creature every to walk these lands. Lord Massiue is seeking it. If he finds the unicorn before we do, all is doomed to fall into his foul claws. You four must find it. Only an elven maiden can approach it. She must be of royal blood. That leaves you two, my daughters. Falik has sided with his father in this matter, promising his allegiance to Cresio. Calto has unsurpassed skill with a blade he will go where he is needed. I know that Lavire will follow you, Larina, where ever you choose to go. That is why it rests upon your shoulders to find this unicorn."

"Father." I started softly, slowly. "My people need me. I will do whatever is needed to help them." I said surely.

"That is what your mother would have said." My father choked out, a tear forming in his eye. "Now you must prepare!" He said quickly blinking the tear away. "You must travel lightly, and swiftly. Take enough food for several weeks, and any weapons you have mastered. It will be incredibly dangerous Larina you must put an invisibility spell on the tower before you leave that is imperitive!"

We left the Hall of Destiny. Calto went to prepare horses and suitable weapons, Lavire to the larders for food, while Falik and I went to the tower to gather a few nessesary items. We appeared at the tower and went in. I several magical items I thought would help us: a crystal looking-ball, a cloth that made food appear (Lavire has never been very good at making sure there was enough of any one item,) and a phial Lavire could use. The phial had an ancient healer's potion that would fix any wound, no matter how deep. We left the tower Falik carrying the three magic items. I cast an invisibility spell like my father had told me then we went back to the castle.

Lavire had gathered a bag of food items, and she met us in the stables. Calto was there with our horses, and had gathered several weapons of all sorts. Each of us took a blade of our choosing (Falik a saber, Calto a broad sword, Lavire a set of daggers, and I chose a curved scimitar,) a bow and full quiver, and our personal favorites. Falik an ax-pike to strap on his back, Calto a short spear, Lavire took nothing saying she was satisfied with the daggers and bow. I took the staff my great-great grandmother(a sorceress) had given me.

We looked like we were going to war. When I thought about it, in a way we were. We said our good-byes and set off into the forest. Following father's instruction to place where the unicorn had last been sighted.
Larina:

Falik had sighted the unicorn's golden hairs and bits of diamond. I only hoped that we did not find the unicorn too late. Nothing could cleave the diamond horn from the unicorn, except maybe... "Another unicorn!" I yelled outloud from the top my horse.

"What?!" Lavire said, all of them were alarmed at my sudden outburst.

"The only thing that could have chiped off bits of the diamond from the unicorn's horn is another unicorn. Perhaps there are two of the unicorns we seek."

"It does seem logical... But why would their horns meet so quickly that bits of their horns would come off?" Falik said. "Unicorns are gentle creatures, only fighting to save their own lives. It just doesn't make sense!" Falik was as puzzled as I.

"Let's just focus on finding the unicorn first." Calto said.

We all agreed that Calto's suggestion was probably the best. It was almost sundown, so we dismounted and began to set up camp. Calto and Falik made a makeshift lean-to. I had wanted to practice a cottage spell, but Calto didn't trust magic. The spell was an interesting one. It brought the surrounding area around to form an earthly mound, inside the mound would be a hearth, a table, chairs, and beds. It was not a hard spell, and I wanted to get it down. There was nothing more frusterating than not being able to practice magic you know you can perform!

Anyways, they made the lean-to while Lavire unpacked. She found the cloth I had brought along, and she opened it. "Mother's magic cloth! Larina where did you find this?"

"It was in my tower, we never had a need for it. So I put it in a chest to keep it safe."

"Do you remember mother at all?"

"Very little. Remember we were both very young when she died."

"How did she die?"

"The Hall of Destiny..." I whispered. I knew that was what had happened. She had been sent to the Hall of Destiny to face what her life was meant for, and then before she could begin her mission, a traitor elf thrust a spear through her heart. I just couldn't bear to tell Lavire what had actually happened. I hadn't been the same since I was told the truth, and she wuoldn't be either. There was no need to burden her.

"What? I didn't hear what you said."

"No matter. She died. It was a horrible accident, that couldn't have been avoided." Just as I said the word horrible, a flash of lightning lit the sky up. It began to pour. Rain in Cresio is not as it is anywhere else. It has components in it that dissolves elven skin, and fairy wings.

"Under the lean-to!" Calto yelled. I knew the lean to would not hold under rain, it was only there for a little protection from the wind. I quickly said my cottage spell, it was the only way. I slowed the rain with a wave of my staff, a trick my mother had shown me.

"Coreianali Gorethi Telliun!" I spoke the ancient word of my forefathers. The cottage formed quickly, much faster than I would have thought. I rushed inside it, with Falik, and Lavire at my heels. Calto hesitated for a moment and the rain hit his arm. He sprinted in, screaming in pain.

Lavire took out the phial I had given her, and she placed a drop on his arm. The open wound closed and the skin repaired itself. Calto hugged Lavire.

"You're welcome." I muttered. First he doesn't trust my magic, then he hugs Lavire for "Healing" him. Had I not brought the phial, he would still be screaming in agony. It wasn't that I was out for glory. It just would be nice for my future brother-in-law to say thank you once in a while. It would be nice to hear anyone say thank you...

"Thank you." Falik whispered into my ear. Sometimes he reads my mind... He then hugged me and kissed me on the cheek. I just stood there mouth agape. Falik had never shown me that he had any feelings for me. He smiled at me, and I smiled back.

"What about the horses?" Lavire said anxiously.

"They'll be fine, their thick hair repels the rain. All of our supplies will be ruined though." Calto said with remorse.

"Appareu Ittemis." All of our gear appeared in a heap in the middle of the floor. After everything was dry, we would be able to touch it again. Until then, we would just have to wait. Nothing was drenched, but just wet enough to harm us if we touched it. Falik could have, but he put his better judgement to use and let it be. I cast a fire in the hearth, and we sat at the table talking and planning our next move.
***NOTE FROM SHORTY: Please re-read the story and notice the things that have been changed. I am NOT putting Esylla in here. The story is only Cresio. In Other Words- no parallel worlds! Thanks Guys!***

Larina-

All of us were confused, myself and Falik more than Lavire and Calto. Lavire and Calto didn't seem to care much. "Falik, I had an idea." My mind had been working overtime.

"What is that Larina?"

"Well perhaps the unicorn was injured and chipped off his own horn to try to purposely leave a trail for us to follow." He sat and thought about it.

"That seems concievable." Time passed, my idea seemed the only possible reason. The rain grew harder, washing away the mud from the cottage. It was no longer hidden, but no intelligent being would be out in a storm such as this. Elven, Fairy, or any other.

"Larina, I'm hungry." Lavire whined.

"You sound like a babe."

"I can't help it. Even gorgeous princesses need food." She said. She was very vain, my sister.

"All of the food is soiled." Calto said with a sigh.

"Calto you have a very short memory don't you? I brought the magic cloth my mother used. Besides I can always conjure up a feast."

"Let's just stick to the cloth Princess." He spoke with contempt in his voice. It was because he was an Elf who had no power over Elven magic. It was sad really, but he never tried.

"Watch the way you address me. I am still your superior and your better." I said shooting him a vicious look. I took the magic cloth from it's spot and laid it across the table. Almost immediatly it was filled with wonderful aromatic food. <Thank you Mother.> I thought looking up.

We ate in silence. Lavire stuffing herself in a most unbecoming way. Falik fliting about choosing one thing then another. Calto sat grumbling to himself, eating sporadically. And I ate and thought. I was deep in the recess of my memories. Remembering, dwelling on the thoughts that filled my mind. Thinking about my mother, my father, Finneas, my sister, everything in my life. Falik, Calto, and Lavire retired to bed. I sat up, still thinking. Time passed, I'm not sure how long, but I heard a knock at the door. "Someone out in this storm?" I opened the door.

There before me stood a boy, he looked elven, but then again he smelled human. His skin was melting off. It was a horrible sight! "Come in! Come in!" I said. He entered. The phial's magic would not heal so many wounnds. Lavire's healing powers wouldn't either. Perhaps if Falik and I combined our magic, we could heal him. Fairy magic and Elven magic can acomplish anything together.
Larina-

I took Lavire's phial, and silently woke Falik up. The human smelling Elven boy, who was not much younger than myself, was collapsed upon the foyer of the magic made cottage. "Falik, I need you. Please it is quite urgent!" I whispered into his ear.

"Larina? I do need my sleep."

"An Elven boy will die if we do not help him, you must help me." Falik at once rose from his sleeping place and followed my to where the boy was collapsed.

"Put the phial's contents on his major wounds, and I will begin to gring his life force back. He has lost much more than skin, blood, and hair, it seems as if he is unwilling to fight to live." Falik said with sadness. We worked on the boy for hours. I was able to close most of his major wounds, and seal many of the smaller ones with my magic. Falik continued to work on him, seeking his life force energy, trying desperatly to bring it back to the boy's body.

*************************

The boy's eyes fluttered for the first time in three days. The storm had ended on the eve of the second night. "You...saved...me."

"Shh. You have been through quite an ordeal. You still need your rest." I presented him with some soup, for I knew it would be hard for him to eat solids. I spoon fed him, and noticed the look of jealousy on Falik's face as the boy looked at me.

"An angel..." He said softly. "My name is Ealo. I am surprised you can stand me. I know that I am not pleasant to smell." We all looked at him quizzacly. He said nothing, but held his eyes down to the floor. He tried to stand and successfully made his way to his feet. "I than you for your help. Good-bye."

"Sorry Ealo, but we cannot allow you to leave while still being weak and on the mend." Calto said in his pompus soldier manner. Ealo nodded and fell back down to the cot on which Falik and I had mended him.
Alright. I'm getting sick of people not adding. This CF is really awesome, and it showcases all of your (collective) writing abilities. From now on it's 3 strikes you're out. Skipped 3 times and you're gone. Please don't make me start deleting people...

Larina-

The rain stopped after it's third day. We all were getting a bit restless. Falik was become very possesive of me, and I had no clue as to why. Calto was extremely testy, and once I had to cast a low power stun spell toward him to make him not hit a hole in the wall. Ealo seemed to have healed nearly completely. He was very nice, even though he smelled. I had gotten used to it. I still was not sure as to how this smell had become aquired within him. I assumed that he was part-human, but I would not say so because of our hatred toward humans. Calto especially would kill him if he suspected. Lavire was acting quite oddly. She had not spoken since he had arrived. It was strange to see her silent.

We traveled slowly, following all of the tell-tale signs of the unicorn. A horse has "mysteriously" appeared for Ealo. I had summoned it from the castle; however, no one else needed to know that little fact. It was not an important detail. We had seen a few hoof prints left from the rain, but not much more than that. It was odd. I thought about an image spell. It would cast quick past-images of anything that had been past a certain place within the last few days. We could follow the unicorn's past-images to find it. Unfortunatly if I kept the spell cast for too long, I could die from it. It was a very complicated spell, and physically draining.

I cast it anyways. I pushed my horse on, as fast as it would run. We needed to get as far as we could as fast as we could. We rode for many dozens of miles. No one realized that I had double cast my spells. It was dangerous with elementary spells, but with the two I combined it could turn out to be fatal. I had cast the past-images spell and a fleet-as-wind spell upon the horses hooves. The spells began to ebb as I lost my physical power. The horses slowed and the images, that I alone saw, faded to nothingness. The last thought on my mind was that we had done well today.

I felt myself falling from my horse. I felt strong arms catch me, and I passed out from exertion.

Larina

Darkness encompassed my mind. It was a wonderful feeling. A sensation of exhilaration. I was floating... flying. I didn't have to think within the recess of my mind. I didn't crave the magic. Or was the magic just more a part of me here? I was fully free of every distraction in life.

Life...

This is not life. This must be death. Death must be release. No obligations, no one to tell me to go on an impossible mission to find some stupid unicorn and stop a psychotic dragon lord. Death was freedom! The weight of all my problems had been lifted. I did not have to worry if Falik and I were to someday wed and join the two most powerful lands and peoples. No one to compare myself to. I didn't have to try to be perfect here. I was perfect. Death was perfection!

Then again, I must help my people. They are counting on me to save them..... A bright swirl of colors penetrated the darkness, and absorbed into my innermost being. I felt the magic coursing through my life force. “She’s going to make it Falik!” I heard my sister’s voice. She was far away.

“Larina? Larina darling, wake up.” Falik’s voice probed my mind. “Larina, you’re alright now. Come back to me.” He kissed me lightly and my eyes fluttered open. I saw Falik crouched above me. Lavire was smiling beside me, and Calto was hovering protectively over all of us. Ealo was nowhere.

“Falik...Where is Ealo?”

“He betrayed you.”

“I don’t understand.” My mind reeled. Ealo betrayed me? How?

“You fainted from exhaustion. He was sucking your life force out. I caught you as you fell, but he pushed me away. He sought to fight me, to kill me. Calto hit him over the head with a rock. Ealo dropped to the ground, unconscious. I tied the traitor to a tree, so that we would have more time to escape, tethered your horse to mine, and held you in my arms as we fled. He wanted us all dead.”

“How could he take my life force? It wasn’t him that made me faint it was-” Falik cut me off before I could tell him about the spell. But did that really matter? It seemed like Ealo had been using me.

“Larina, darling, he brainwashed you and led you to believe that he was a friend. Then little by little he took the magic and energy from you.” Calto and Lavire agreed with him. None of this made sense though. Why did Falik think that Ealo was a life force thief? It was the spell that made me so vulnerable, not lack of energy. And why all of a sudden was Falik showing me so much affection. Lavire had finally spoken again and Calto seemed calm and in control, the opposite of before when he was so angry. It seemed that everything was back to the way it used to be, but somehow it seemed wrong.

Hey guys, let's make a real effort to add within a week k? There's only three of us writing now, so let's try! (And I know I've been taking forever too lol) Ohh, Elven... Try not to let large amounts of time pass in your additions(like a month) k?

Larina

Our original foursome continued on the quest. We were closer to the unicorn, I could feel it. Every so often we would find a golden hair. We were on the right track, that was a sure thing.

It had been a fortnight since I had last seen Ealo. I was so confused as to what exactly had happened when Ealo left. Falik had never deceived me, but I had this churning in my stomach that told me he was lying. I knew that Ealo was not a "life force thief" because if he was I would have sensed it. Magic users tend to be incredibly suseptable to those evil creatures who really do live off others. Falik of all should have realized that Ealo was not, being that he used Fairy magic. "I don't believe you Falik."

"What? Larina do you need to rest? I knew we shouldn't have continued... Larina is still too weak."

"Perhaps you were right Falik." Calto said quickly.

"Or perhaps you didn't hear what I said. I don't believe you, any of you. If Ealo were really out to kill us, wouldn't he be chasing us? Why haven't we been intercepted by any of the Dragon Lord's scouts or fighters? I'm turning back to find Ealo. If any of you want to follow me, you are welcome to. But let me warn you, especially you Falik, I will not be deceived again."

*Yea, yea Mr. Smartie it's fast enough... Shorty looks around Writing.com, "Excuse me ppl can I get a round of applause for Elven?" Lol...*

Larina

We had been traveling for days. Falik was brooding, as was Calto. Lavire was becoming increasingly more agitated at the fact that she smelled and was dirty. The whole lot gave me strange looks every so often. I knew that they were all mentally conspiring against me. But the only one who could really oppose me and hope to come out of it alive was Lavire. And that was only because I would never kill my own sister. Falik had his own magic, that was true enough, but his was no match for mine. Then there was the “strong” Calto. Don't make me laugh. He couldn't stand up to one of my lesser spells, let alone one at full strength. Even if he believes he can...

Larina what has happened to you? I asked myself as we rode. It was authentic, I had changed. Quite a bit for that matter. I was no longer the princess I once was. Before my only goal had been to lead my people once my father passed on. To find a way to make Cresio better in some way. Someday perhaps marry Falik, and unite the two most powerful lands in holy matrimony. And to watch my little sister join in wedlock with a fine, noble warrior. Now it was different. The three people I had known the longest, loved the most had blatantly lied to me. My sister, whom I had protected from the harsh realities of the world. Nurturing and acting as a stand in mother. Calto, I had told father that he could be a great warrior, and I had bailed him out of dangerous situations more than once. Falik... I had loved him. I thought that some day he would come around, maybe one day feel the same way about me. I felt betrayed beyond words, beyond comprehension. It was as if they all stabbed me in the back, and then stood over me, laughing while I bled. I had taken enough. "We're stopping." I barked.

"It's barely even midday-" Lavire protested.

"I said, we're stopping. I'm in charge. Father made me the leader." I dismounted. “Unless, of course, one of you wishes to challenge my authority?” I said toying with them, daring just one to step forward. I needed to vent my frustrations. Any one would be excellent target practice... However, they all just went about their business setting camp up. I began to make my way into the forest surrounding us.

"Larina, where are you going?" Falik said quickly, frightening his horse. The horse almost broke free of his grip, but he managed to steady it.

"I need some ingredients for a special potion. I shan’t be long." I continued walking. "Just get the campsite ready before I get back." I exited the clearing. I watched them from the outskirts of the tree line. I was barely out of view. I took a deep breath. My mind was made.

My wrath is great,
Their will is naught,
A simple dream,
A simple thought.

Those who lie,
Those who deceive,
Give them sleep,
It’s only a short reprieve.

I said the spell into the wind. They did not see me cast the spell, but I saw them drop where they stood. The horses grazed on, oblivious. I whispered soft words into three of the horses ears, sending them back to the castle. I gathered the few supplies they had unpacked, and placed them on my horse’s back. I took Calto’s weapons, Falik’s Fairy dust, and Lavire’s magic healing potion. The three traitors lay on the grass in a deep sleep. They would sleep for three days, and wake up with horrific migraines. But they deserved it... Hopefully three days would be long enough for me to find Ealo. I owed it to myself to find the truth out from him. If I didn’t find him, I would search for the unicorn on my own. They had no chance of finding the unicorn. With no magic to aide them, and no one to approach the unicorn, they would have only one choice: to return to the castle. They would try to lie to my father, but I had my back covered this time. I knew that Elvin troops scoured the country side, I would contact Finneas. Father always trusted Finneas, and so did I. He would believe me. I would tell him of all that had transpired over the last few days.

All that’s left is to simply, leave.

**********

I rode hard through the night. Trying desperately to get as far away as possible. I had never been one for traveling without direction, but I felt in my bones that I was going the right way. It did seem like I was heading back to the castle. Days passed, but I finally came upon an Elvin unit marching directly to Lord Massiue's land. At the head of the troop, I noticed a familiar elf. He was a strong figure atop a war steed. Finneas?

Would luck have it that I meet the one of the men I needed so much to see? I urged my horse on to the main flank. The troop stopped as they saw me riding toward them. I skidded to a halt. A line of spears was thrown at me. I said a quick spell and sent them flying within inches of the hands which had cast them.

"You dare throw spears at your Princess?" I called. Those within earshot immediatly dropped to one knee. I trotted into the middle of the Elvin host. Soldiers moving aside to let me pass. As I neared the front of the group, I saw a sword. An immense sword I never thought I would lay eyes on again. "Ealo?"

The figure turned. It was him. He smiled and laughed slightly. "I wish you had told me you were the heiress to Cresio."

"Does it really matter?" I raised an eyebrow at his comment.

"I suppose not."

"Wait a moment, why are you with my father's guard?"

"Very long story-" He was interuppted.

"Your Highness! You are safe!" Finneas said coming to us. "Where is Princess Lavire, her betrothed, and Prince Falik?"

"They have betrayed Cresio by betraying me. I need you to send your fastest runner to the castle. Tell my father not to trust them. They are with Massiue now." He called a soldier to him, scibbled a quick something on a piece of parchment and the soldier took off on a horse. "Finneas, I need a favor."

"Anything, your Highness."

"I need a dozen of your finest to come with me to find the unicorn. It was necessary for me to return so I could warn Cresio. But time is slipping away from us." I took a deep breath. Finneas nodded in agreement. "Ealo, I would ask that you accompany me on my quest. But I think we should clear some things up before you accept, or deny my request."

Larina

Ealo and I traveled hard and fast for many days, trying desperately to recover lost time. We spoke frequently, and in light tones that masked our fears. Or maybe I should not speak for him. He may not have been as scared as I was...

I knew Falik was going to be trouble. He would not return to Cresio. The Fairy was very tricky. Knowing him, he would probably either track the unicorn on his own or return to the Fairy lands and declare war officially against the Elves.

"Larina?"

"Yes?"

"Something has been bothering me."

"Falik...."

"Yes, how did you know?"

"I don't understand it either. His betrayal came as a total shock to me. Lavire and Calto I could understand. My young sister wants the throne, and her betrothed wants my father's crown. I suppose that it all comes down to power."

"Do you believe that Falik has the same thinking? He sides with Massiue after all."

"That, we do not know for certain. Maybe he was only jealous of you. After we were seperated, Falik began expressing such affection toward me. He has never been a Fairy of strong emotion, especially not love. I have still not figured him out."

"He's out there, waiting for it. I can feel it. Can you?"

"Yes Ealo. I can..."
