Ireland? How about.... She smuggles him into a pub. The pub stays open WAY after legal closing hours (as has been known to happen there, particuarly in the country) and she buys him a PINT of Guinness. Being rather small he gets a little drunk and wanders into danger. (Clearly he isn't going to drink ALL of that. Perhaps he falls in. Or not.) Perhaps the girlfriend works behind the bar? Perhaps her dad is the landlord?
I know it's a bit cliche but if any Irishman told me it couldn't happen I'd call him a liar. And then probably get into an argument about Guinness. And then drink some Guinness.
