Why does he slam the door in the night?
Where does he go that he just might
Be able to have a fling or get drunk?
I tried to think but oh what bunk,
As I sit here crying and drowning in my tears.

I hear him now, and I start to tremble in my fears,
Because his rage is pouring out like the rain,
And I cannot find the strength to regain
My composure of a strong, fearless mind.

Oh what do I do? There's no place to hide.
Climb out the window and run to confide
In your one and only dearest friend,
But she is sleeping and I just cannot end,
This quaking fear in the pits of my bowels,
And here he comes getting nearer as he growls;
"Where are you woman? Come here right now!"

I am afraid and fear for my very life.
Oh Why did I agree to become his wife,
Only a month ago,
When I was vulnerable and very low?

Now he is a beast, a man of violent rage,
But to be still is not advice I'd call sage,
I have to hide or at least run,
Cause he'll beat me til rises the sun.
