Those types of alternatives work well for a while, and usually, that's it. And here you are. Same thing can happen if you simply rely on ignoring it. Somewhere along the line you have to understand how and why you take things in, why you feel such things, and why you respond to them this way. From this you can learn other ways to deal with emotions.

If something gets you down, call a friend, just talk about whatever, or read a book, work on a story. Maybe put everything that happened into a story. Do you keep a journal? It would be a good idea to start one, if not. You could write down what you're feeling at that moment. Write down why it made you feel that way, and how you wish you could emotionally respond to the situation, instead of how you did. Give it a try. *Wink*
