My Entry:
Sonnet of a King You fell from Mount Olympus, when you must Have robbed Athena’s wisdom, beauty’s grace. To Aphrodite’s scheming I entrust Love’s tenderness and passion’s warm embrace. Like Hera’s magic sceptre, peacock blue, Your eyes, like summer’s sunlight, sprightly shine. Your lips, like Hestia’s firelight, warm and true, Reveal Eros’ kisses as divine. How sly the hand of cards that Hermes dealt? For as Apollo strums upon his lyre – One single sound...a heart of stone would melt, And turn a lover’s casual lust to fire. What joy and merriment your presence brings, Like Zeus himself, a King amongst the Kings. |
