I haven't heard of stream of consciousness being a genre, but I like Laura's spin on it. I think you spelled it correctly.*Smile*

In writing, it would be a description of a character's internal experience to an event in the story (perceptions, emotions, thoughts, memories it calls up, and bodily reactions), including internal dialogue, and what it means to the character. I don't think it is a complete substitute for narrative, in most cases, but it helps build and develop the character.

But, you probably know by now, that I don't like to be long-winded.
