Friday the 13th 2009 Remake.

How could you hope to better the original film?

You couldn't, and the director and writers must have known that. Even though this stated as a remake it's actually a continuation of the Jason Voorhee's story. Quite rightly though the writers brought us back to Camp Crystal Lake - his old stomping ground and "birth place".

The story is based around a group of teenagers who, while out camping, set up tents near the Camp. When they stumble upon it they are viciously and horribly dispatched. Six months later (why is it always six months(?) ) one of the groups brothers (played by Jared Padalecki - of Supernatural and other (better) remakes fame) rolls into town looking for his sister (played by Amanda Rhigetti - of The Mentalist), who he believes is still alive.

He meets Jenna (Danielle Panabaker of Shark) and she invites him to her boyfriends house, where he is holding a party since his parents are away...

Can everybody shout "It's Slaughter TIME!!!"

And it is. From here on in it's the usual Jason fare - though to be honest it's done in the style of the first five movies (which didn't get too carried away with themselves, too much). It's dark, fast, and nastily fun. There's tension and excitement to keep you on the edge of your seat - and to make you jump, at times.

It's an "oldschool" slasher movie and I loved it...

Rating 8/10
