Today's posting will be about my two favourite things posting and gambling and why the two are similar.

Well. Who knew I could create a forum of my very own? It happened quite by accident but I guess I can live with it. Maybe. Thank goodness I started it under a general discussion banner. I would hate to think of creating something under a specific heading that I did not know anything about.

I was simply trying to introduce myself as a newbie like the writing.com emails told me to do but while I thought I was posting in a specific forum it turned out I had actually created a forum of my very own. I took a chance and I'm waiting to see if the gamble will pay off. Maybe I could get a dedicated following and be magically discovered by an agent who will stand for nothing less than signing me and promoting my writing to anyone who will listen. It could happen.

I didn't think good fortune like that could happen in real life until a recent trip to the local casino. I am not what you call a bonafide gambler, more of the penny slots type. I take my predetermined gambling amount ($20.00) and I break that down into $5.00 bills and then off I go. On this particular occasion, I had the excellent fortune of turning my little $5.00 into $1000.00 by hitting the literal jackpot. Never in a million years did I think that I could be so lucky but there it was complete with bells and whistles.

It was an optimistic moment that made me take stock and say to myself, "there you go, you've hit the jackpot, now you never thought that would happen so is it so hard to believe that you could end up being the writer you always dreamed you could be?".
