What will you come up with? |
That evening, Faith sat propped up against the wall and listened to Gabriel's stories. She would smile at the good parts and feel sympathetic when something bad happened. She found it difficult to believe that some of these were true stories. Some that he told were fake, he had warned her, but he'd always say which one was and which one wasn't. Faith glanced over to her sister Vanessa. Vanessa had changed a lot since the first of November. She had become less trusting and more responsible. Too responsible, and far too less trusting. Vanessa couldn't see that Gabriel wasn't such a bad guy and that he was a good person to trust. Since he had come, he'd behaved, even if his entrance into their life wasn't exactly the best. Faith watched Vanessa put down her pencil and notebook. Pencils would become rare, Vanessa had told her, and she had stockpiled a few for a later date. Vanessa walked over to Faith and Gabriel and took a deep breath. It seemed that what she was going to say had taken a lot of thinking and was not something to be taken lightly. "You're keeping watch tonight," she told Gabriel. "While you may not be trustworthy yet, we need someone to make sure that nobody breaks in. And of course, I can't do that every night, so we'll just switch off." Both Gabriel and Faith looked surprised, but Faith was just happy that Vanessa was finally starting to trust Gabriel. (This activity will probably be helpful this month with Camp NaNo and all .) |
