You’ll first need to review your goals and your needs, such as down payment for all your cars, insurance, clothing, food, and abode. Where your goals are concerned, buying another BMW or buying a ticket on the spaceship for the next trip to Mars are not reasonable goals nor are they shrewd. You need to really reassess your goals in life.

Then you’ll need information about your income, which must be glaring at you from your last pay stub. As other flexible expenses vary from week to week and month to month, you might want to document those also.

After you do all that, if your budgeting doesn’t work, you can come to me and cry about lack of money and lack of joy in your life. I still won’t gush over you as you are not a baby anymore, but maybe I can help you further with forgetting about that Mars trip and with some serious budgeting.
