I think as a writer, you have to put yourself out there. If the adult elements fit to the story, then you have them. Regardless of whether your mom is going to read it because SHE should not factor into your writing unless you are writing for her specifically.

You might also consider that she knows where babies comes from and has probably read books with sex scenes in them before. It's really you're feeling awkward about your mom seeing that side of you.
