Tom lost his phone. And the first thought that entered his chaotic head was how angry his mom would be if he did actually lose the phone she had worked so hard to pay for. And especially after that fight that they had just had, when she had berated him relentlessly for always losing his phone. Tom quickly found his phone, proving her wrong(telling her so), but when she tried to teach him a lesson about losing his possessions, he had snuck out of his North End apartment to exert the independence that he desperately needed in his life. ***** Susan Andrews looked out of the spotless window that overlooked famous Newbury Street, but even with the beautiful day outside and the joyful feeling in the air, she felt a horrible loss inside. She still hadnāt recovered from the incident with her husband 10 years ago, when she awoke one night to her husband of one year gone without a trace. She was sorry for what she had done, but she was always afraid of Tom leaving her. On impulse, she walked into his room, but he had disappeared. ***** Susan had been calling her son for half an hour, but no one had answered. Worried, she began to cry for her son. ***** Tom was beginning to get really nervous. He had searched all over the city and he still couldnāt find his phone. Suddenly, he heard a voice call his name. His friend Alex was standing behind him, holding out something black and rectangular, with the usual presumptuous grin on his face. Could it be? Yes! It was his phone! Tom grabbed his phone and called his mom immediately. When she answered on the first ring, screaming his name with glee in an apologetic tone, he said, ā Mom? Iām sorry.ā |
