Re: Re: PACKAGE 27 DONATION FROM DWG
It all depends on the dog. I have a potential candidate I am working with right now. Because of the t-storms and other factors the work has not been as extensive as I would like, however this will change in the future. I have also put out the word about seeking a PIT Bull Terrier. Depending on whenever a dog is found and what they may or may not have for doing will determine weather they will get the job. The dog I have now is very smart and will work out eventually, but he is a bit bigger than I would like because of needing to cram into small spaces in the car, in public, and in other situations. If he turns out to be exceptional, of course I will retain him as my service dog. The large size will work ok but if another dog with the similar abilities and a smaller stature is available I may lean in that direction. I could use both dogs for service dog work, but am by law only allowed to work one at a time {no 2 dogs at the same time/place}. Service dogs are considered to be durable medical equipment by law. So Far Pilot has learned to sit, down, paw {lift paw like in shaking hands/paw} This is a start which I will transfer to pawing to close doors, drawers, and other things within the dogs physical and mental ability. I started with this task because it was natural for Pilot to do this pawing motion. Eventually I will teach the service dog fetch, and other tasks.
Safe travels and many blessings.
