Chinese New Year Celebration

Well, things keep falling apart. I have a very flaky friend involved. She also has PTSD and a brain injury from Iraq, so I try to remember that she started out flaky and Iraq just made it a whole lot worse. Plus, she refused treatment for years while I was purposely seeking treatment, so of course she's behind me in her recovery.

She's messed up a bunch of the plans--Plans she originally made. I was visiting her, then we were going to Mexico for a veteran's retreat, then coming back for my birthday and the other guy in the rocket attack was coming (on her dime) to be with us for my birthday and we'd spend a week in California together.

Then she accidentally arranged so we'd spend my birthday in Mexico with the people from the retreat that I don't even know (yet). Then she backed out of buying SGT Burns' plane ticket because her daughter just got into Spelman. (She owed me a plane ticket because I've lent her so much money and that was a part of the deal--a part of the deal SHE offered to me, but I can afford my ticket, SGT Burns can't. So she agreed to buy his instead of mine.)

Then she said she might not be home after Mexico because there is some visitation thing for her and her daughter at Spelman, but I already have a ticket to be there for 8 days after Mexico. Then yesterday she mentioned that she's still in Tennessee doing who knows what. Uh, but I'm coming to visit you in California on Wednesday. I might end up changing my ticket if she's not even going to be there.

She does this sort of thing a lot. She invites us (she's the reason I'm even going on the retreat because I didn't want to), then she backs out. SUPER ANNOYING! While it's going to be a lot more expensive since I now have to pay for 8 days of hotels after Mexico, plus fly SGT Burns out, not to mention all the food, etc. I'm going to do it because that's what I wanted for my birthday, with or without her. Besides, he used to live in San Francisco, so he knows all the cool places to hang out.

I know I'll have a great time in San Francisco with SGT Burns. He and I get together at least once a year and have a blast. I'm just really disappointed that she probably won't be there. I'll see her in Mexico (I assume), but my birthday plan is completely not what it was originally supposed to be.
