If you are not seeing content in the Community Newsfeed, the most likely reason is having your content rating filter set at E. You can change it at the top of the Newsfeed page.
If you're not seeing content in your Personal Newsfeed, the most likely reason is that you haven't set any Fans or Favorites yet.
