I tried to do a product review, but WDC had a problem with the ASIN number. Oh well, here's my review. I really struggled to find anything in this book that I didn't like. I loved the reclusive, animal-like nature of Kya and related to her immensely. I did find her constant quoting of poetry from the same poet annoying and was going to use that as my one major complaint, but then found out later the reason for this. It was still a little cumbersome to read, but I can forgive it. The story itself drew me in immediately. I loved the vivid descriptions of the swamp and found myself wondering the whole time why the townspeople would judge anyone who lived there as trash. It sounded like a paradise to me! The ending surprised me a little. I wasn't expecting Kya to be the murderer, I assumed that Tate or even Jumpin had been the culprits. This was sort of a pleasant surprise as it added to the mysterious nature of Kya, though a very small part of me felt duped that the author withheld such an important event from us...since Kya was the point of view character. It was so well done, that I got over it pretty quickly. The last half of this book forced me to keep reading. I couldn't put it down. I didn't expect it to be so much of a courtroom drama, but I wasn't disappointed. Anyway, I highly recommend Where The Crawdads Sing and give it a pretty enthusiastic 5 stars.  Order my new book on Kindle!
