October Novel Prep Challenge

I have been with this challenge for years, and i nearly always finish early.

The biggest question is what to do with the extra time. Brandiwyn🎶 's vision for OctoPrep was to get everyone writing every day to be ready to tackle NaNo (and it works).

So what happens when you finish early? Are you still getting that daily practice of writing? I am. I write 750 words every day (and i have tried to do this since 2011). I am currently rewriting the first book so that the second comes easily when NaNo starts. I keep looking over my plot and characters to see if they're going to change on me during November. Most years I had to still work on plot up to November 1st. I am a character-first writer, and plot has been a harder part for me. I know some people have it the other way around - plot first and characters come later.

You can also read writing books and fiction books that are similar in genre. You can try short stories to nail down more backstory for characters and you can attempt to figure out what would be plotted if your main sequence was different. Change your era, backdrop, setting. All of this may not work, but it can help you understand what is to come much better than if you never question it deeper.
