My first April Book

I read a book called Quarry by Bill Pronzini. It is a novel about Pronzini's "nameless" detective. If you don't already know what that means, it's a situation which every author who has written in the first person knows about. Namely since you constantly refer to the protagonist with first person pronouns, you can spend the entire story or even the book not revealing the character's name to the readers. Pronzini has wriiten an entire series of novels and short stories about this private detective and occasionally comes close to giving his name, but never does.

Anyway, as for this particular novel, it deals with the nameless detective being hired by a rich old man whose daughter has been acting strange. It seems that she had a boyfriend which she is now afraid of. The nameless detective tracks down the boyfriend and finds that he is an extremely dangerous person. It's a suspenseful read even if it is a little bit hard to follow.
