'Nights in White Satin', by The Moody Blues, would be one of the songs that resonates well with me. Not only because of the lyrics and music that is performed with minor chords, but because of the added bonus of an equally somber poem at the conclusion of the song.

This poem that I speak of is;

Late Lament'

Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy is spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey and yellow-white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion

It was this poem, that had unwittedly inspired me to write poetry. I say this, because essence of this particular piece didn't present itself in a bold fashion. It was almost as if it slipped within my subconscious mind, and resided upon the fringes thereof. So much so, that I can no longer write in a simplistic fashion. Even now as I express my feelings, I find myself swept away within the warmth each current.

And the music, is as compelling.

The orchestral fulfillments of each instrument; whether it be bowed upon cellos, or breathed upon the flute, invites my very soul to be in unison.

The lyrics, albeit solemn and haunting, embraces what is.
For each line evokes the essence of each soul. Perceptions are not only candid, but very real.

(A true heart of a poet.)

Decades have passed from its conception; and much like a tuning fork that has been struck, both unbridled and true...

I am forever and a day...

Moody Blue.
