I think your approach to writing erotica is perfectly logical. How do you describe something that you haven't experienced yourself? The way I see it, if you try to write about something with which you have little experience it, there's two ways to go about it: usign cliche description (not good at all) or imagining how you would feel (not a good idea but better for writing). Either way, it tends to come out a bit unrealistic.
