My struggle to be free
My mind is in a dark room.
I can see the light but I can't get there.
Cold and hungry I sit and wait
Wait and wait
For what I ask myself, go to the light but I wait afraid to go
The alcohol keeps me in the dark place
Offered help many times but I still wait
I go to the door the light is bright people are laughing, playing and praying
But I stay in the dark room
Come out they say it's better here.but I stay inside
Years go by in the dark and then she came
An angel named Mary
She did not force me or make me feel bad
She made gentle appearances gaining my trust and showing me kindness and love
She held out her hand and we walked through the door together
Mary is my sponsor for AA and my guardian angel for life
