The otter holt of Riverdew was very lively with activity. The current Skipper, Jacob Swiftpaw was retiring, leaving the post open. He had called a meeting of every otter in the holt to decide who his successor would be. The room was full as every otter tried to get comfortable. One otter, Deyna, watched from the back of the room as he leant on the wall, his bright green eyes watching over everything.
The room fell silent as Jacob Swiftpaw entered. He was quite an old otter, yet his face looked young, his eyes still twinkled with youthfull energy.
"haha, it's good to see you all!" he called out, smiling. "I called you all here because as you know, i am retiring. And we need a new skipper!"
He observed them all before continuing, the atmosphere a little tense. "Now I have come up with a fair way to decide who the next sipper will be. However, it will be quite dangerous! those of you who wish to try, raise your paws." he said.
There was an outbreak of noise as the otters discussed what had been just said. Then, five paws were raised. They belonged to Rees, a muscly male otter, Darma, a tall female, Swift, a female with a long tail, Connor, a cheerful young otter and Deyna's.
"haha, ok me bucko's, step forward!" Jacob said. All eyes were on the five otters as they stood in front of him.
"The challenge before you all is dangerous. here is what you must do."
