The Great Shift is a mass change event by which some percentage of the world changes dramatically, usually people swapping, or changing bodies on some large scale. In these stories, you might chose this to be a very public thing, or a sudden, random event that only you are aware of. Those changed by the Shift rarely appreciate it at first, but over the course of the story typically grow to like their new form, sometimes more than their old body.
