Hi bobric,I found your writing after I finished reviewing chapter 1. Hopefully, this review will find you in good spirit. *Delight*

On Title/Subject
Good title and subtitle. It fits its content. The description of the home adds to the feel of the main character. The drive home, the changed thoughts, and actions of this boy all are intriguing and add to the suspense of the story. I want to read on.

General impressions
Another lovely second chapter. I loved the way Stephen is taking out the clutter in his bedroom and organizes things. The dream of every parent. Very realistic how the mother is absent in her boy's life, her life being focused on TV and men, leaving her son comfortably alone with his newly found wizardry.

Favorite Parts
Instead, he decided to try out a few spells he’d learned. Nothing too big. It was best to start with the little ones. He sat on his lumpy bed, bouncing on it. He closed his eyes and concentrated until he floated up above the ratty mattress He made himself sink down into it, making it part of him and him part of it, like the spelling book had done. It was simple enough to twist and turn the lumps into shape.

“There. That’s better.” He emerged and sat, bounced, grinned. “Much better. I can sleep when I’m ready.” He wasn’t though. There were other things in his room needing fixing. He didn’t really change the way they looked much. The cracked mirror now gleamed and reflected back instead of showing flaky pieces of its old life. The toy chest was a little bigger, with room for his favorite childhood memories in the shape of baseball glove and ball, a stuffed rabbit and similar emotional hugs that sometimes tugged at his heart.

I loved the way he is practicing for the first time his magic. The way the room is described is totally realistic. The reader is experiencing it all together with Stephen. Nicely done!

Suggestions
No grammar or spelling errors found. Again one typo? musty is musky?

Final thoughts
All in all a lovely second chapter with more information on the lives of both mother and her changed son. I loved this chapter and I want to read on to chapter three. Thanks for sharing.

Keep up the good work, enjoy writing!
