Hi there, OIARM! This is great! And as an introverted nut like Charles, I can totally relate to this! You did an excellent job of telling this, and using the woman's cunning 'wiles' to get to know him better at work (not to mention her flirtatious demeanor) was perfect to bring it to that eventual marriage proposal! Don't get me wrong: I have nothing against relationships or marriage (although I have become a loner in my older age), but I'm glad Charles came to his senses at the very last minute! To quote Forrest Gump: 'Run, Charles, run!' And that ending with him in the nursing home being dealt with hand and foot without fear of having to 'wish any of them goodnight' was the icing on the cake! Comments and suggestions: 'So when she approached him at the faculty meeting(,) with her red hair and her uneven temper(,) he was inclined to run.' 'how String theory reminded her of her days as a dancer.' ('string' theory! ) "Why are we here(,) Charles?” She had asked, “we’re going to miss the party.” (she) 'That almost made him gag.' Kee ponw ritin gon, OIARM! Thanks for sharing this, and congratulations on your promotion to Preferred Author!
