We started with 260 romantic songs, and have narrowed in down to forty. Now, find out which twenty love songs remain in the the "Romance Song Showdown".

 Round 3 Results
When I counted the votes for this round I noticed something strange. There weren't any close calls. The songs were either close in numbers when it came to the votes, or they were completely slaughtered by the songs they were up against.
The Blow-outs:

TBird_critterkeeper  : It's entertaining that at every middle school dance, high school dance, and often on the radio someone requests "Every Breath You Take." Hello! It's about a stalker!
Tiggy  : I thought the first two rounds were hard but this is getting almost impossible!
Trisha : My Dad told me that the lyrics to Unchained Melody were actually written by the last Queen of Hawaii. Her husband, the king, was petitioning keep Hawaii an independent nation. (He was in Europe, but I can't remember what country). On his way back home, he became ill. He was hospitalized in San Francisco. The Queen wrote him a song telling him how much she loved him. Sadly, he died before her letter reached him. She later died. Then years and years later, music was put to the words and the song was a hit. So the last king and queen of Hawaii live on forever through "Unchained Melody". Love never dies.
iconoclast37: I just discovered it, too late to save "Cherish" by The Association from its undeserved fate. It was recorded before I was born, I think, but my father loved that group and played their records all the time.
sandiegoabuelo : "Every Breath You Take" is not a romantic song, it's a stalking song. Sting was surprised how many people chose it a Wedding song!
Just Jamie : I'm just curious to know what happened to "Everything" by Lifehouse, I didn't see it in the results of the newsletter or in this survey, was it eliminated? The choices seemed easier this time around, perhaps it was because there were less songs to choose from, and it's easier to hear each one in your head as you think about the lyrics to make a decision on which one seems more romantic than the other! I'm definitely looking forward to the final song showdown!

patrickstar: A lot of my top choices were among the songs that were left!
fleckgirl: Holy cow! There were some tough ones for sure! But there were also some no-brainers that I'd be shocked to see certain songs eliminated.
cerianwen : They are all wonderful songs, so hard to choose, but I think I made the right choices, I simply adore the songs I've voted on!
Jack Thomas : Yes, in question six, I felt all 4 of the songs should move into the next round. But that's just my opinion.
Jade is very busy : No, actually it wasn't that hard. It was actually harder to pick 4 because some were Ok, but not my fav or the most romantic (In my opinion) So it was actually easier to pick them. There was usually two that stood out over the others.
aspenflayme: Nope, no difficulty at all :) I was surprised to see savage garden. I absolutely love that song, but I didn't think it was that popular.
researchib: Some of my favorite romantic songs aren't on here. What about older songs, like "Moon River Sonata"? Nothing beats a slow dance in the living room to that one;)
Scarlett : I found number 5 the hardest - three of my all time favourites in there. ('Time In A Bottle", "Lady In Red", "Will You Still Love Me", "Wonderful Tonight").
Stinky : I dont' listen to new-age pop-twang country or any of that other stuff. Eric Clapton, old blues artists (from the Robert Johnson era), Warren Zevon, and Queen are my favorite bands that are famous for romantic songs. Then there's "Stairway to Heaven", which isn't really romantic, but it's still beautiful to dance to.
Forge : I like all from that group was hard to choose! I like the song "Iris", but I don't consider it romantic.
Carpageo : I was torn between "Unchained Melody" and "Your Song;" I finally decided that romantic lyrics trump romantic melody. Not that the lyrics to both aren't romantic, but the words to "Your Song" seem less generic and really sincere. Things I would have liked to see...

I felt the tug-o-war this past round! I have people voting for "Every Breath You Take" and others in disbelief that it's still around. Remember, I'm only counting the votes here
