About This Newsletter

We started with 260 romantic songs and have narrowed it down to the top ten! Find out which ten songs survived and which songs were eliminated in the Romantic Song Showdown.

You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs,
but I look around me and I see it isnt so.

*Note6* Songs That Were Eliminated Round 4:
*Bullet* 18 votes- "When I Fall"- Nat King Cole
*Bullet*18 votes- "Lady In Red"- Chris DeBurgh
*Bullet* 16 votes- "She's Got A Way"- Billy Joel
*Bullet* 19 votes- "You're Beautiful"- James Blunt
*Bullet* 19 votes- "Killing Me Softly"- Roberta Flack
*Bullet*21 votes- "Right Here Waiting"- Richard Marx
*Bullet* 21 votes- "Every Breath You Take"- The Police
*Bullet* 20 votes- "Sometimes When We Touch"- Dan Hill
*Bullet* 22 votes-"When You Say Nothing At All"- Alison Krauss

It's hard to believe how close the numbers were for the eliminated songs. I can't reveal which two songs were leading this past round, but I will tell you that they tied with 35 votes.

*Note6* Reader Comments:

*Bullet* Sarah Rae : I've been following this for awhile, but haven't been able to bring myself to vote. There were just too many good choices, and many of them I didn't know well enough to choose one or the other. You can tell we're getting down to the best when I can recognize almost every song in the final 20.

*Bullet* Scarlett : I'm pleased to see most of my 'very' favourites left at this stage. Good taste your voters have! Just difficult to choose now though.

*Bullet* Sugar Rose Dupre : "Let It Be Me" by Elvis Presley- This song is so beautiful. This is a song that does inspire me to write in a romantic mood. "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin- I love the beach for romantic writing!

*Bullet* Just Jamie : : It's been a great run for all of these songs. I can't wait to see which one makes it out on top! This survey was probably the easiest one out of all of them, again, more than likely for the reason that there are less songs to choose from! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to vote on all these!

*Bullet* spazmom : I just think this is way fun. It's interesting to see what comes through to the end. I think music adds greatly to romance...even when I'm writing it I hear music in my head, or put music on to listen to. It helps foster the right mood and atmosphere.

*Bullet* fleckgirl: "Breathe" by Faith Hill didn't make it? Jeez! And "You're My Everything" by Barry White? What is this world coming to*Laugh*

*Bullet* Lorna Dune : A great contest and a great idea. I loved the contest and it will be great to see which song wins. "Unchained Melody" is one of my all time favorites in the romantic song area. Too bad more people don't like slow songs anymore. You can do so much with words with them.

*Bullet* Carpageo : These songs that you've narrowed down will probably still be counted among the most romantic in 50 or 100 years. This series of surveys was a fabulous idea. Thanks for "letting me play!"

*Bullet* pypero7: This had me stumped! I would love to know how this turns out. I mean, think about it...Romantic Song Showdown, I am willing to bet that everyone has a special song that reminds them of someone and they are all different, with some similar I am sure, but there are so many! I love this, I have been here for 20 minutes thinking of some to add to your list, as if you needed anymore! Psst...I still think it is Alison Krauss! I would have liked to see "Faithfully" by Journey, "Far Away" by Nickleback, "God Bless The Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts, "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole, and "At Last" by Ella Fitzgerald.

Ask & Answer

*Question*The Milkman : Lexi, I've always loved your Romance Newsletter because you've always tried to inform your reader that there is more to Romance/Love writing than just those special feelings. In your next informative newsletter I was wondering if you could direct your audience to your ways of creating believable character emotions?
*Star* Lexi : Hi, Moo! Thank you for the compliments. I look forward to discussing this in a newsletter once the "Romance Song Showdown" is done. I appreciate your topic suggestion!

*Question* slongentl My portfolio is filled with erotica and I can not find any anthologies or contests that I can be a part of or enter with my current genre of writing. If I am wrong please point me in the right direction. I really would like to enter and be a part of anthologies and contest with erotica or adult content in them. thanks for taking the time to read this.

*Star* Lexi : I'd be happy to help, Slongentl. While there isn't an official Erotica Newsletter there are contests that you can enter, and Review Forums where you can request reviews. Go to your Site Navigator located on the left side of your screen, and click Item Jumps. You'll see an option called Contest Listings and Review Forums. You can find a wide variety of contests and forums under those two options. Also, you can go to "Unofficial Erotica Newsletter Group [18+] which specializes in that genre. I know that laurie_o has some past articles in her portfolio. You may want to check them out too!
